NYFW RTW Fall 2019: Savage X Fenty Beauty Looks

SAVAGE X FENTY NYFW 2019 BEAUTY BREAKDOWN

Savage x Fenty held their second fashion week runway show during the September S/S 2020 Fashion Week show in NYC and naturally Rihanna’s eponymous makeup line, Fenty Beauty was featured for all the looks.

“My vision for the Savage X brand has always been having women feel confident and expressing themselves,” said Rihanna in a video showing behind the scenes of the design process posted on the online site.

“There’s no rules with designing lingerie. You can go as comfortable as you want, you can go as sexy as you want,” she added.

Led by Fenty Beauty Global Makeup Artists Priscilla Ono and Hector Espinal the looks were tailored for each model.

The Fenty Beauty artistry team used all Fenty Beauty products to create five different looks that were then tailored to each model and their unique features and personality. For each look, the artists began by priming the skin with one of Fenty Beauty’s 3 primers –Pro Filt’r Mattifying Primer, Instant Retouch Primer or Hydrating Primer – depending on the model’s skin type, and then created a perfected complexion with the new Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation, which offers longwear, buildable coverage with a natural finish that lasts, before adding various accents of color and finishes.

Ranging from show-stopping shimmers to sultry mattes, monochromatic faces to all-over body shimmer, the following provides a breakdown of all of the looks created for this groundbreaking display of beauty by Rihanna:

SCENE 1 LOOK:

Artistry Tip: To highlight features and catch the light, strategically place microfine holographic shimmer like the Fenty Beauty Diamond Bomb II in limited edition shade Holo At Me on top of lids, cheeks, nose and cupid’s bow to catch the light from all angles. The new limited edition holographic pink shade will flatter all skin tones as it reflects on the skin.

Artistry Tip: Add dimension and drama to your look by creating a graphic eye with a wash of color on the lid and concentrated pigment just along the lash line. Soften the look by smudging around the edges to diffuse it slightly without turning it into a smokey eye.

Artistry Tip: To achieve the look of glassy skin, layer highlighter underneath foundation to create a glow that shines through. Make sure to start with clean, moisturized, and primed skin first.

Artistry Tip: To create an ombre lip, pick two shades in the same color family, using the darker on the perimeter and the lighter in the center of the lips. For deeper skin tones, use Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color in Unveil, a chocolate brown, as the darker shade, while lighter skin tones should opt for Uncuffed, a rosy mauve. All skin tones can then fill in the center of the lips with Unveil, a peachy nude, for a natural shade gradation.

Artistry Tip: Make a smoky eye pop by adding an unexpected bright shimmer, like the gold highlighter from Fenty Beauty in Trophy Wife, to the inner corners of the eye and on the peaks of the cheekbones, which also ties the look together.
