Tyla’s 2024 MET Gala Makeup Look With Pat McGrath Labs
Singer Tyla’s dress for her first Met Gala (May 6, 2024) was created by Olivier Rousteing, creative director of Balmain. Embracing The MET’s “Garden of Time” dress code, the Balmain team fashioned Tyla a dress made of sand—a nod to the sands of time. “The inspiration behind this creation stemmed from a desire to redefine boundaries and transform a transient material into an everlasting masterpiece,” Rousteing tells Vogue. “The idea of sculpting a garment from something as ephemeral as sand ignited my imagination and I could not be happier with the end result.”
Makeup artists Ernest Robinson & Ryan Burke worked their magic for Tyla’s glowing skin at the 2024 Met Gala using Pat McGrath’s eponymous makeup line.

Inspiration: “We wanted Tyla glowing from head-to-toe. The inspiration behind her overall look was the “sands of time”, so her makeup was based all around sparkling sepia and brown tones. Layering our Skin Fetish: Divine Glow Highlighter over the Highlighter + Balm Duo in Bronze, we created a bronze twilight glow that was applied to the high points of her face as well as along her shoulders, collarbones, decolletage and down her arms. She looked like a glimmering goddess, complete with a divine shimmering bronze lip courtesy of our LUST: Gloss in FAUX REAL.” – Pat McGrath
