Don’t Do That: Eva Marcille’s Bronzer Overload

When I was a makeup trainer I traveled the US and Canada and I saw the how the geography dictated a woman’s makeup application.  Hands-down, the queens of bronzer were the women of the OC—Orange County in Southern California.  I mean, the ladies love some bronzer.  And that’s okay.  If you’re buying, I’m selling.

But there is a right way to wear bronzer and a WRONG way.  I peeped this picture of Eva—who BTW I think is right up there with Halle in looks, maybe even prettier—and she is a walking testament to bronzer gone wrong.

Compile that bronzer situation with the Nicki Minaj lips and Tyra Banks eyelashes and Eva has got a Sybil-ish makeup personality going on .

Now I do love bronzer, and I wear it most days mixed with my blush.  And toe be fair, Eva’s bronzer is properly paced, cheeks, forehead chin, but the color is wrong and it’s heavy handed. Remember your bronzer should look natural—sun-kissed!

Now, Eva has gotten bronzer right before—I loved her bronze glow here.

Some bronzers I love:

Tarte Mineral Powder Bronzer in Hotel Heiress (deep bronze) $29

Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Bronzer $39

CoverGirl Queen Collection Natural Hue Minerals Bronzer $8.29

Iman Sheer Finish Bronzing Powder Bronzer $15.99

Vapour Beauty Solar Translucent Bronzer $34

Wow. Yeah, I really don’t like that and it doesn’t compliment her beauty AT ALL. My god! I don’t even know if I’m feeling the platinum hair. The WHOLE look just dulls her out to me, for some reason. I’m not a makeup expert by any means, but I do know this is not a look I’d be rushing to.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
