Beauty Hacks: Melanie Inglessis Gives Tips on Creating the Fox Eye
There’s a cat eye for every type of eye shape! Whether it’s a flick of the wrist or the newest trend the fox eye, Celebrity Makeup Artist Melanie Inglessis has you covered on her tips & tricks for creating your perfect dramatic eyeliner look with Armani Beauty.

Creating a fox eye
To achieve the illusion of the now trending fox eyes, use a thin angular brush and liquid eyeliner. “To elongate the eyes, start the line 1/2 way by your lash line and pull it out. Then from the pointy tip, come back just a little further than where the shape of your eye ends and use the liner in the inner corner too to elongate it.”
With a small Blending Eye Brush ($40) and a soft black eyeshadow, very gently fill the “wing” to create softness and bring it into the crease of the eyes. Lastly, use Eyes to Kill Classico Mascara ($32) on lashes but pay extra attention to outer corner of lashes to create a more sleepy, smoldering, “foxy” look.

Cat eyes for different eye shapes
For a hooded eye, Mel recommends keeping the liner very thin by the lash line and drawing a uplifting wing, to pull the eye up.
For round eye, start the line thin and gradually thicken it and draw an elongated wing to lengthen the eye.
For an almond shaped eye, Mel would start the wing a little before the end of the eye and draw it out either round or straight for a more edgy look.

Liquid or pencil eyeliner?
Mel notes that “both are great options but keep in mind that a pencil moves easier as it doesn’t set like a liquid eyeliner”. The Smooth Silk Eye Pencil ($30) will give u a softer look, a little more feathered and a liquid eyeliner will give you a sharper look. A liquid eyeliner is harder to master though so she suggests starting with a pencil, then applying Eyes to Kill Lacquered Liquid Eyeliner ($36) on top for a longer wear.

Mel likes to have both a soft pencil and a liquid liner when creating a cat eye. Mel notes that you have more control with your own brush when creating a cat eye, and recommends using the Eye Liner Brush ($25). And don’t forget to always have Perfect Eye Makeup Remover ($34) handy for all necessary touchups! A cat eye is normally black, but have fun with a dark brown, burgundy, or Mel’s personal favorite, forest green or an electric violet!
