Editor’s note: We started this piece before Lupita Nyong’o became the face of Lancome, and it is simply an in expensive way to get her look, not to suggest that these are the products that were used.
There’s no denying Lupita Nyong’o is the style star to watch this season.
One of my favorite beauty looks from Lupita is her Miu Miu look worn for the LA Premiere of 12 years a Slave back in November 2013. Lupita paired a 2014 Miu Miu print dress aka the “Parrot Dress” with a sultry blue smokey eye and bold fuschia lip. The purple and pink undertones were a beautiful complement to the bold Miu Miu number. Sassy, but classy. Just what I like.
Here’s how I recreated this look (with a little spin of my own) using makeup provided by Milani Cosmetics:
1. Flawless Face
For a smooth look, I applied Milani Cream to Powder foundation in Warm Spice across my entire face, making sure to blend the product into my hairline, ears, and neck.
Try: Milani Smooth Foundation $7.99
2. Defined Eyes
Lupita’s sultry eyes are the focus for this look. I opted for a deeper smokey eye. I applied Miliani Runway Eyes eyeshadow in Black Out across my lid. For an intense look, I wet my brush before application and used a blending brush towards the outter tips of my eyes to created a dark, yet sexy smoky-eye effect. I used a liner brush to apply a thin line of eyeshadow in the inner fold of eyes. Next, I lined using Milani Eye Tech Extreme liquid eye liner, extending the liner to create the classic cat eye.
Try: Milani Runway Eyes $6.99, Milani Eye Tech Extreme $7.49
3. Lashes Galore
No eye look is complete without mascara! I applied Milani Runway Lashes Instant Volume Mascara on my top and bottom lashes to create the illusion of long, glamorous lashes.
Try: Milani Runway Lashes Instant Volume Mascara $4.99
4. Get Cheeky
For a pretty pink glow similar to Lupita’s, I used Milani Baked Blush in Fantastico Mauve. Make sure not to apply too much blush. The key to this look is for the rosy pink to look suptle and not overdone.
Try: Milani Baked Blush $7.99
5. The Perfect Pout
Lupita’s flirty pink lips are my favorite part of this look! For an equally sizzling pout, I used Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Raspberry Rush. For added shine, I then applied a light top coat of Milani Crystal Gloss in clear.
Can you believe to recreate this took me less than 20 minutes to recreate? Achieving your own celebrity-inspired makeup look in minutes is totally doable.
To complete the look , I paired a printed peplum dress, laced-up booties, and a vintage gray overcoat. Now I’m ready to hit the nearest red-carpet… you better watch out, Lupita!
