Product Review—Makeup: Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation-It’s Naturally Fab
I’m not such a huge fan foundation as most formulas tend to leave my skin looking, well, OLD. At 56, the last thing I need is for my skin to look older than it is. However, every now and then I find a gem of a product that seems to erase the years, and that’s a product that becomes a must-have in my beauty arsenal.
One of those is Tarte’s new Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation. Before I confess my undying love for this amazing foundation, check out the details.

My results:
So, I have to admit, I wasn’t so excited to use this foundation, as I am not a powder girl. But I love Tarte’s other foundations, so I just had to try it. The good news is that this foundation is talc free, a huge bonus in the appearance on my mature, brown skin. I also have had an aversion to loose powder foundation since the advent of “mineral foundations”, however, that fear has been abated with my use of Tarte’s Airbrush Foundation.
First off, the packaging is luxe and adorable. It conveys Tarte’s image of a conscious beauty brand. The sifter dispenses a small amount of foundation at a time, so there is no “overdose” on powder. The genius kabuki brush fits perfectly into the sifter opening, so there is no powder flying every which way. (A major issue I have had with loose powder foundation)
The application is effortless. Truly. You can apply this foundation in your groggiest early morning moments without worry. The brush buffs your skin to perfection, insuring that the foundation is seamlessly blended into your skin. The results are fabulous.
My skin looks natural on steroids. That’s a good thing. My skin looks like I am well rested and flawless when using this airbrush foundation from Tarte. Yet, I don’t look like I am wearing a stitch of foundation. My skin tone is even, marks are blurred and I have an overall glow. I don’t look like I am wearing powder at all. Additionally, my daughter, who has deep brown tones looks AMAZING with this foundation. Every time I see her I ask which foundation she is wearing, to which she replies, “Mom, it’s the Tarte!”
I have a strong yellow undertone, and I have a difficult time finding a brown foundation that matches my skin. No such problem here. As soon as I opened the jar of the Tan Sand – tan skin w/yellow undertone shade, I knew that it was a match made in Tarte heaven. Finally, a brand that gets it–we[brown skin] need yellow undertones!!! The Rich Sand – deeper skin w/yellow undertone shade is perfect on my daughter’s skin as well.
Another amazing thing about the Amazonian Clay feature of this foundation—it keeps my skin hydrated while it keeps the oil at bay on my daughter’s oily skin. That’s deep, truly innovative.
The only negative I can even come up with for this foundation is that it does not contain SPF. But I don’t care. I slather on a ton of SPF in my skin care regimen daily, so it’s a moot point.
I am in LOVE with this foundation, it’s lightweight and gorgeous. If I gave more than 5 Blings, Tarte Airbrush Foundation would get them!
In my photo I also have on Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Peaceful (coral).
Bling Factor:
Pro: Lightweight, covers, keeps skin hydrated, controls oil, great color matching
Con: No SPF, but who’s counting
Price: $36 (brush sold separately for $26)
Buy Again: Yes
Packaging: 5 Blings
Overall: 5 Blings

Ok, this foundation sounds pretty amazing. I like you have yellow undertones and I always have the hardest time finding a foundation to match my skintone. I also tend to tan VERY well during the summer, so I would say that using any type of foundation on my darker skin tends to look cakey. I wonder if I could get a sample of this foundation from Sephora since it isn’t in a compact form. Hmm. I will check it out next time I am shopping. Thanks for a great review!
