Lip Love: Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in 61 Matte Naked

It’s time for another lip love, and this week my lips are loving Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in 61 Matte Naked.  Anyone who knows me knows that I am not a nude lip-girl.  I love color; the brighter, the darker, the bolder, the better!  Lately, however, I’ve been challenging myself to be more subtle with my lipstick choices.  In my experimentation with nudes, I’ve grown to appreciate the simplified glam they can add to a makeup look.  While I don’t think I’ll ever fully abandon my love for color, I’m getting more comfortable adding nude lippies to my arsenal.  This is due in part to Milani 61 Matte Naked.

“What it is:

Meet your matte. Your fantasy matte. The matte that not only feels great (yes, you read that right – it’s actually comfy) but also lasts for hours and has “a-mazing Instagram selfie” written all over it.

What it does:

Infused with grape seed extract imported from Italy, this smear-proof lip soother delivers mega color that won’t budge, even after a close encounter with a cappuccino cup. In eight luxe, go-the-distance shades, from the oh-so-sweet, pale pink Matte Innocence to the va va voom, fiery-red Matte Passion. This matte? So major.

Why I love it:

I usually find that with nude lipsticks, especially matte formulas, they settle into the fine lines and wrinkles of the lips, making for a not-so-flattering look.  This is not the case with Milani 61 Matte Naked.  It goes on feeling rather creamy, and settles to a stunning matte finish.  At first, it seemed just a plain, beige nude.  However, once photographed, I noticed that it appears more of a pinky-nude on my skin tone, which was a nice surprise since I like color.  While it was still a drastic change from my normal bold lip colors, I found it pretty flattering and grew to love it over the week I tried it out.  I disagree slightly with the claim that this lip product is budge-proof. That being said, it does still have decent wearability and to be honest, I’m usually willing to put up with a few reapplications if I love the color!
