Expert Panel: Janice Daoud NARS Makeup Artist on Fall 2011 Trend Nude Makeup

Janice Daoud, International Makeup Artist for NARS Cosmetics graciously shared her tips for achieving a fresh fall nude face—straight from backstage at Marc Jacobs.

Fall 2011 screams nude makeup and this look was seen on several runways including Marc Jacobs. For the Fall 2011 Fashion Week show, we went for a clean and quite refined look with a strong cheek and lined eye.

Nude isn’t necessarily matte, it can be luminous and glowing. To keep the effect fresh, not flat, choose light shades with shimmer or shine. Stay neutral on the entire face while making sure to pop the cheeks to avoid looking washed out. Look for powder and cream blushes in peachy or rosy shades for an ethereal glow like NARS Deep Throat blush or Lokoum (used at Marc Jacobs).

When choosing a nude lipstick make sure to stay within a few shades of your skin tone for a more natural look. Fair complexion should try a pinky nude lipstick like NARS Cruising. For darker complexion NARS Honolulu Honey is perfect because of its beige tone.
