1.  Cleanse twice daily:

Unless you have serious issues (acne, hyperpigmentation, severe wrinkling) there is no need to pay a fortune for a cleanser.  I have three cleansers that I am currently loving.  In the shower I keep my Avalon Organics Vitamin C Refreshing Cleansing Gel. 8.5 oz $10.95.

I love this cleanser — it’s so gentle that I even use it over my eyes.  Plus, it’s made with a plethora of good for you ingredients:
Vitamins C & E, Lemon Bioflavanoids and Melatonin plus White and Green Teas – because antioxidants perform longer and more effectively when used in combination.

At night I use Olay Definity Cleansing Towelettes and Olay Regenerist eye makeup remover.  Love the these towelettes, they are sturdy and large enough so that you only need one to get your skin clean. (Just scooped a deal on sears.com — $3.97 where they usually sell for $8.30 for 30.) If you wear heavy duty makeup, I would suggest cleansing with a water soluble cleanser however.  And they eye makeup remover is double-duty — it deposits peptides to combat those ugly crow’s feet!

2.  Exfoliate:

I’m an exfoliating junkie.  I can’t scrub enough.  But, regular exfoliation is of major importance since the natural shedding process of our skin (desquamation) starts slowing down in our 20’s.  So it’s important to get rid of those layers of dead skin.  This allows treatment products to penetrate properly and moisturizer to do it’s job. I have two scrubs that I am crazy about right now.  The most potent one is DERMAdoctor Physical Chemistry, facial microdermabrasion + multiacid chemical peel $75 DERMAdoctor.com

3.  Treat

I treat my skin with the ACE Vitamins. They are powerful antioxidants that help reverse sun damage, build collagen and fight aging.  For day I am loving Obagi C-Exfoliating Lotion SPF 12 for day. $61 (half that price at amazon.com)  This product falls in to my double duty product category — it exfoliates, brightens and provides an SPF.

My other love for day is VichyLiftactiv Retinol HA SPF 18. $46 Vichyusa.com also available in CVS. Retinol (vitamin A) plus SPF and other ingredients equal brightening and lifting effects for your skin.  I am a believer!

Vichy Neovadiol GF Night Densifying Re-sclupting Care

For night it’s Vichy Neovadiol GF Night Densifying Re-Sculpting care. $51  This night cream has firmed my skin up like nobody’s business.  If you are experiencing any loss of elasticity in your skin, this is your go-to treatment moisturizer for night. I’m in love with it. I don’t have wrinkles, but I am concerned about keeping a firm neck and definition at my jaw. I refuse to go out with a turkey neck, and this night treatment is ensuring that I keep it tight!

Treats sagging, loss of skin density and less defined facial proportions.

4.  Protect

I can’t preach it enough.  Sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!  It doesn’t matter if you buy it at the drugstore or from your dermatologist, just use it!  It doesn’t matter how much melanin you have naturally occurring in your skin, you need an SPF factor everyday.

Not only does sunscreen keep your skin protected from UVA/UVB sun damage, it’s your number one defense from looking old beyond your years! My current sunscreen is CellCeuticals PhotoDefense SPF 55 which is more than just a sunscreen, it’s an anti-aging treatment as well. With ingredients like vitamin D, green tea leaf extract and more, it’s one of the best sunscreens you can use. $45 cellceuticalsksincare.com

5.  Eye Cream

They say the eyes are the first to go, so don’t neglect them.  I have an eye cream addiction and can be caught at any given moment during the day lightly dabbing on some eye cream.  Not that you need apply that often, but it’s one of my OCD habits.  One of my all time favorites is Skyn Iceland Icelandic Relief Eye Cream with Biospheric Complex.  $55 at Sephora.com.

This eye cream leaves my under eye area moist for hours, which is exactly my “issue”.  Plus it addresses dark circles, puffiness, wrinkles and more.  What more can you ask for?
