Get the Look: Lizzo's Hair & Makeup at the 2019 AMAs

Lizzo hit the red carpet at the 2019 American Music Awards in a custom ruffled rose-gold Valentino dress. She kept her look monochromatic with rose-gold makeup on eyes, cheeks and lips.

The highlight of the Lizzo’s look though was her micro mini purse. Clearly Valentino took Jacquemus down in the battle of the mini purses.

Celebrity Hairstylist Shelby Swain created the hair style for Lizzo for the awards show.

INSPIRATION:

“The inspiration for tonight’s hair was ‘I Dream of Jeannie’. Lizzo’s dress was short, puffy, fun, and super 60’s vibes so we wanted to create an iconic 60’s hairdo to match the dress. We gave her an updo that was as flirty as her tiny purse.” – Shelby Swain

TIPS & TECHNIQUES

”To create the look, I first blow dried her hair using the ghd air® hair dryer ($199) and ghd paddle brush ($35). After blow drying the hair, I took the hair up into a sleek ponytail. Then I flatten out the ponytail using the ghd platinum+ styler ($249) to get the hair super straight and shiny. Next, I flipped out the ends of the ponytail using the ghd curve® soft curl iron ($199) for a flirty final touch.”

For makeup a monochromatic rose-gold them played up Lizzo’s beautiful features.

Lizzo’s cheeks were both highlighted and sculpted with rose-gold shimmer.
