Get the Look: Lizzo’s Updo at the 2019 VMAs

Red carpet hot Lizzo was the picture of a “lady in red” at the 2019 VMAs wearing a custom Moschino by Jeremy Scott red strapless sequin gown with silver “Siren” lettering and a red-and-silver metallic feather boa to match. Also matching was Lizzo’s red-on-red makeup with lips, cheek and lipstick all in red.

 Celebrity Hairstylist Shelby Swain created a loose and sexy updo for Lizzo which was inspired by updos of the past.

TIPS &TECHNIQUES

“First, I washed, and blow dried the hair using the ghd air® hair dryer ($199) and the ghd ceramic vented radial brush in size 3 ($40). 

Next, I sprayed the hair with heat protectant spray and curled the hair with the ghd curve® classic curl iron ($199). I set the curls for 20 minutes so they can cool. After, I backcombed the hair with the ghd narrow dressing brush ($40) and smoothed the perimeter of her hair creating a sleek updo. Lastly, I finished using ghd curve® classic curl iron ($199) to touch up the end curls.
