Break this Bad Habit in 2021: Sleeping in Your Makeup

Admit it. Your skin care routine isn’t perfect –you sleep in your makeup. Okay, maybe it’s only on occasion, but if you are human, you have kept your makeup on for over 24 hours at least once in your life.  Now, for some of us, this is a horrible habit that must be conquered. And I can tell you up front that I don’t always practice what I preach.

But, I do have a nighttime makeup removal system that is perfect for lazy girls and slackers. (Don’t be offended, with all my skin care knowledge and beauty expertise, I am most def a slacker.) However, I created a night skin care regimen that is easily replicated. It does take a bit of organization, but you will thank me if you follow my lead.

First of all, I create a beautiful environment for my skin care products I use at night. I had been using a crystal cake stand for about a year, but it was getting crowded, so I down sized to a gold charger plate.

Skin Care Cleansing Products You Need:

Cleansing oil or cleansing balm. Why? An oil based cleanser will easily remove your makeup, including eye makeup,  and all the other debris your skin has picked up during the day. Emulsify with a spray of water, essence or toner.

My Favorite Cleansing Oil & Balms:

(read my review here)

It nourishes as a balm, easily removes makeup as a cleansing oil and hydrates as a cleansing milk. Its unique blend of 9 essential oils including Lavender, Chamomile and Eucalyptus smell like heaven in a jar to invigorate the senses. Skin is left feeling deeply cleansed, soothed and supremely soft.

(read our review here)

It gently yet effectively dissolves even the hardest-to-remove makeup and impurities without over-drying, leaving skin clean and replenished. Enriched with an aromatic blend of pure botanical oils including squalane, a plant-derived lipid with a natural affinity for skin; evening primrose oil, rich in omega 6; and lavender oil, this all-in-one cleansing formula leaves skin balanced, soothed and prepared for optimal nighttime

Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm $112

(read our review here)

The Thermal Cleansing Balm harnesses the power of transformative Hungarian Moor mud, rich in calcium and magnesium, to draw out impurities. This gentle black balm cleanses without stripping, removing all make-up, even waterproof mascara, to leave skin feeling soft and hydrated.

So how do you remove your cleansing oil or cleansing balm from the cushiness of your bed? So simple.

My favorite way to remove cleansing oil or cleansing balm is with a hot wash cloth. So, before I start my nighttime cleansing regimen, I soak a white wash cloth with hot water, ring it out and roll it up. After I finish my cleansing step, I press the now moderately warm towel into my face. And, it feels wonderful. Then I just wipe the rest of my makeup off with the towel. Next remove eye makeup.

Try: Lancôme Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover  $$32.00–$65.00

Finish your skin care regimen with a swipe of toner then apply an appropriate treatment or serum for your skin concerns and type. Top it off with moisturizer and eye cream.

Now keep up the good habit of removing your makeup every night!!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
