Editor’s Picks: 5 Meaningful Gifts to Send to a Friend

This past year has been tough on friendships. With stay at home and social distancing, even next door neighbors can feel like long-distance friends. To maintain these relationships, we’ve all had to get a little bit creative to show our love. If your love language isn’t gift giving, don’t stress! As always, we have you covered.

Here are 5 gifts that we love to send to remind our friends how much we miss them:

A self-care package

With all the stress of the last year, we’ve all needed to decompress more than usual. With many of us working from home, we might actually have time to do it too. If you can’t be there to love on your friends in person, why not send them something that will help them love on themselves? Help them to set up an at home spa(aaah) day with a luxury bath gift or the go-to face mask you use when you need to relax. Show them that you care about their self-care.

A memory, framed

We’ve all heard it: A Picture is worth a thousand words. While it may be cliche, when trying to show your friends some love, it may just be right. Sending a framed picture or a personalized postcard is a sweet, budget-friendly way to show that you care. We all have dozens of digital pictures, but a good old-fashioned framed photo is way more personal, and longer lasting. Plus, every time they see it, they can remember the good times all over again. Just make sure they look good in the photo too!

Comfort food

Normally, if your friend had a bad day, you’d be the friend to show up with something delicious to help make the pain go away. While you might not be able to send yourself right now, you can have comfort food delivered directly to your friend’s place. Whether it’s work stress or relationship struggles, we promise that same day cookie delivery can make it just a little easier to deal with. Of course, pizza and ice cream work too (and maybe a bottle of rosé, because who doesn’t want that?), but take our advice and save the salads for yourself this time. Nobody wants to cry into a chopped salad.

Fragrances

Send a smell-good gift that lingers. It’s just a fact: When you smell good, you feel good. Have a friend that’s stuck in a rut? Help them switch up their vibe for the season with a new fragrance you know they’ll love. And this gift is not just for your girlfriends! Encourage the guys in your life to step up their game and get out of their comfort zone with a scent that’s more exciting than their body wash. We know they’ll thank you for the gift, and the advice.

Something for the whole family

Family is everything to us and we know it’s the same for you. For your friends with kids, nothing is more thoughtful than a gift that includes the little ones. Help them to get creative with arts and craft materials or a coloring book. Also, it’s never too early to start the next generation on the path towards blinging beauty. We recommend this kid-friendly nail art kit which is gorgeous and safe for all ages (for pregnant women too!). For your friends, seeing their kids engaged and entertained is a gift in and of itself, one that will make them feel loved and you the new favorite auntie.

Hopefully this list helps take the guesswork out of finding a meaningful gift that shows your friends just how loved they are.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
