Queen Latifah at the 2011 BET Awards by Celebrity Makeup Artist Monifa Mortis
A copper brown cream shadow like COVERGIRL SmokyShadow Blast in Bronze Fire was applied all over the lid and the Onyx Smoke shade was used at the outer corners and rimmed underneath the eye. A soft-tipped brush was used to blend her black penciled eyes for a smudged kohl look.
After lashes were applied, I used COVERGIRL LashBlast Fusion mascara to blend and build volume and length. A black liquid liner was used to line the eye and was drawn out just beyond the lid to accentuate the eye and give it a feline appearance.
COVERGIRL Queen Collection Natural Hue Bronzer in Brown was applied to give her skin depth and glow around the perimeter of the face, and the Natural Hue Mineral Bronzer in Light was used to highlight under the eyes and the forehead. The luminous effect these bronzers have when light hits the skin really helps to soften imperfections.
To get this look, I used a large loose powder brush, applying in soft circular strokes around the temples, underneath cheekbones and at the hairline. I also used a shorter blush brush to apply the highlight on the upper cheekbones, underneath the eyes and center of the forehead.
A nut brown lip liner defined her mouth and was blended inward with a clean lip brush. The lip color was first dappled in the center of the upper and lower lips so the concentration of color stays in the middle. Then, I drew out the color to the lip line and gently brought the color over the pencil to diffuse the line. Clear gloss was used in the pout of the lip for a pop of shine. The lip color I applied was COVERGIRL Queen Collection in South Beach Sand. A fabulous nude lip color with gold shimmer that went perfectly with this Egyptian bronze face!
