Product Review-Makeup: BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector

Just like I would never paint my nails without a base coat, I would never (and I mean NEVER) apply foundation without priming my skin first.  As a dancer and a pretty active person, it is so important that my foundation lasts all day.  I need to make sure that my makeup holds up through sweaty performances and crowded stages under the intense heat of stage lights.  That being said, I consider myself a pretty harsh critic when it comes to skin primers.  That’s why I am so amazed by the BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector.

Here are the details on BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector $36:

BECCA Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector What it is:  A targeted oil-control primer that perfects and minimizes pores for mattified skin that lasts up to 12 hours.

What it does:  Go beyond extending makeup wear to address the root cause of why your makeup moves. This formula specifically targets oil-prone areas and acts as liquid blotting paper to leave your skin fresh and matte all day. Use alone, before, or after foundation to control excess oil, while minimizing the appearance of pores. Feel free to use throughout the day to touch up areas of concern.

What else you need to know: This product eliminates excess oil for long-lasting matte skin. The formula is sweat- and humidity-resistant and free of silicone, oil, alcohol, and fragrance.

Why I love it:  What can I say about this primer?  When I first applied it, I wasn’t sure how to feel about it because it left a dry, white cast over my skin.  While that scared me, it disappeared as soon as I applied my foundation over top.  I have combination skin and usually get oily through the T-zone (forehead, bridge of nose and chin area), but somehow I made it all day without having to blot.  What’s even more impressive is that this primer kept my foundation in place for a dress rehearsal and stage performance, so it even stood up to my sweat.  It has a slightly tacky feeling when you tap it into your skin, and a little goes a long way.

I definitely recommend that you only apply this primer to your oily areas.  Adding too much will interfere with the smoothness of your foundation.  I also suggest that you tap the primer gently into your skin as opposed to wiping or rubbing it in.  I only need two pea-sized amounts to cover my target areas, so I know this product will last me a long time.  Now that I’ve tried this BECCA primer, I really can’t imagine how I was getting away without it for all this time!

I really wanted to love this but after an hour it left my already oily skin super greasy! It almost seemed like it increased my oil production
