Makeup Review: Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer in Medium Dark

A major necessity in my makeup arsenal is concealer. I go back-and-forth with ridiculously dark circles under my eyes, to not-so-bad dark circles. That of course depends on my allergies, sleep patterns and how much red wine I drank the night before….

So, needless to say, I’m always on the hunt for a great concealer — preferably waterproof, because I have watery eyes and I need my concealer to stay in place. So I recently received Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer in my Ipsy bag, and I was rather thrilled because not only did I need a new concealer, but I happen to be a big fan of Smashbox makeup.

What it is:

My results:

First of all, I was totally shocked that I received my perfect color in my Ipsy bag — Medium Dark. I love Smashbox because the products stay true to their color profile over every category, so the color I wear in foundation, crosses over to my concealer, powder etc. The medium dark concealer is a perfect match for me, primarily because of the yellow undertones in the formula. All too often even in darker tones there is a beigey cast to the makeup and that just doesn’t work on brown skin.

I like to use my concealer under my eyes and on my eyelids as I have darkness on my top lid also and when using the Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer I have the perfect canvas for the rest of my makeup. I apply a scant amount of setting powder under and over my eyelids and I’m set for the day. This concealer wears so well without creasing or losing it’s pigment. (I have actually gone to bed with makeup on and it’s still in tact when I wake up in the next day.) Blending is super easy — I just dab the concealer around my eyes and then blend with my ring finger or a mini blender sponge.

I would say this is a medium coverage concealer but it is easily buildable so you can achieve full coverage.

I recently moved to Atlanta and the humidity is crazy but I don’t have to worry about my Smashbox Studio Skin 24 Hour Waterproof Concealer disappearing during the day — it really is sweat-proof and waterproof! Check out my pics below:
