Editor's Picks: National Pumpkin Day Beauty Indulgences

It’s the aroma of the season — pumpkin pie spice or vanilla pumpkin chai, or some version of the two. Enter a grocery store right now and you are greeted with a curated display of pumpkins. These aromas and displays bombard us, while visions of pumpkin pie or thirst cravings for a pumpkin spice chai latte are running rampant in our brains. But, aside from adding to our caloric intake for the day, pumpkin has a plethora of benefits for our overall health as well as beauty benefits.

Pumpkin is made up of alpha hydroxy acids (similar to glycolic acid and lactic acid) — which exfoliate skin and keep it glowing. Pumpkin also contains beta-carotene, a vitamin A-derivative that decreases wrinkles, helps minimize brown spots and can help reverse UV damage. Zinc, which is beneficial for healing skin and preventing acne, is also found in pumpkin.
