I have an unreal obsession with makeup towelettes, cleansing pads, baby wipes—anything that makes my makeup removal and skin care cleansing routine easier. This is particularly true for my nighttime routine. Why towelettes? Because they're double duty, one step, inexpensive, and easy to use.
I believe that beauty regimens should be simple at all costs, particularly before bed and after a couple glasses of wine… (red wine=anti-aging, or at least I keep telling myself that.) So, an integral part of my PM skin care program is the use of makeup remover towelettes.
I recently found a deal on Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads at the Grocery Outlet, and being the bargain shopper that I am, I couldn't resist buying a bundled package of two jars of these cleansing pads. Here are the details about these pads before I tell you about my results.
These dual-textured cleansing pads, moistened with foaming skin-conditioning cleansers and natural Soy, help even out skin tone and texture for brighter, naturally radiant skin. The pad is smooth on one side to lift away dirt, oil and makeup and textured on the other side to gently exfoliate and smooth away dry patches. Oil-free, soap-free, noncomedogenic and hypoallergenic, these pads are gentle enough for everyday use, even on sensitive skin.
I'm not so good about reading directions. This is true with gadgets, recipes, and, unfortunately, skin care products. I tend to dive right in and ask questions later. Many times, my dive is a belly flop—without the best outcome. So, I had a belly flop of sorts when I first used the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads.
After using these cleansing pads the first time, I was quite disappointed, because my skin felt so sticky afterward. So, like the good esthetician and skin care expert that I am, I went back and read the directions. After that freshman move, it made complete sense that my skin felt sticky—the directions clearly state to rinse your skin after usage, which I hadn't done.
At first, I was a little bit disappointed with having to go through a rinse cycle. I had become accustomed to using makeup towelettes which allowed me to just wipe and go.
However, I decided to do little experiment. I tried using Aveeno cleansing pads after using my favorite makeup remover wipes. And I was quite surprised. I wish I was pleasantly surprised in reference to my makeup remover wipes, but that was not the case. The surprise came with the Aveeno cleansing pads; they actually removed the makeup from my skin that was left over from using the makeup wipes. Needless to say, the buck no longer stops with the makeup wipes. It stops after my rinse cycle with Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads.
There are other benefits to these cleansing pads as well. They satisfy my exfoliation addiction. They are dual sided—one side gently buffs your skin and the other side is perfect for cleansing. I use the softer side across my eyes for makeup removal without any harmful side affects. Additionally, the pads are substantial with plenty of padding. I almost go into hoarder mentality when I have to throw a pad away—I keep thinking that I need to keep it, maybe I can use it again…
The foaming action of Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleansing Pads is not overwhelming, nor is it drying. These pads leave my skin feeling clean, and I don't mean squeaky clean. (The last thing I need at 55 is squeaky clean skin.) But glowing clean.
The packaging is sufficient. Actually, it's pretty good, because even with my reckless closure of the cap, all of my pads remained moist throughout the use of the jar. Aveeno claims that these cleansing pads are good for even sensitive skin, so if you are the sensitive type, these cleansing pads may be an option for you! I love them.
