Sha’Carri Richardson Covers Vogue August 2024 Digital Edition
Touted as the fastest woman in the world, Sha’Carri Richardson, elite status track and field star, covers Vogue‘s August 2024 Digital Edition. Poised to wear a gold medalion(s) around her neck from particiaption the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France, Richardson is a shining example of what hard work, determination with a smattering of natural talent can accomplish.
The so-called scandal three years ago, when, as a gold-medal favorite for the COVID-delayed Tokyo Olympics, she was suspended from the USA Track and Field team after testing positive for THC, the intoxicant in marijuana, and denied her chance to compete. The back story seemed to go “radio silent” while Richardson took a beating of negative comments and derision from the suspension news. That back story was that finding out from a reporter about her biological mother’s recent death; Richardson explained at the time that she used the drug to cope with “emotional panic.”
Richardson says “I’m not back, I’m better.” “I don’t just mean I’m a better runner,” Richardson tells me when I ask about her credo. “It’s beyond that. I’m better at being Sha’Carri. I’m better at being myself.” Vogue.com
