Product Review—Hair Care: Carol’s Daughter Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner

It’s no secret that I have a head of frizzy hair and that I am always in search of the next best anti-frizz hair products. Over the years I have tried several Carol’s Daughter products with success, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that her latest anti-frizz products held true to their claim of keeping hair frizz free for up to 72 hours.

I received Carol’s Daughter Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo & Conditioner to review, and here are the details about the products:

Cupuacu-Anti-Frizz-DuoGet frizzles, flawless, fearless hair with this duo that stops the true cause of frizz, instead of just covering it up. Hair is left polished on the outside with a sleek finish that repels humidity for a worry-free style immune to humidity and heat damage.

This Set Contains:
Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo, 8.5 fl oz
Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Conditioner, 8.5 fl oz

Our Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Sulfate-Free Shampoo gently removes buildup as it nourishes deep inside the cuticle. It goes inside the strand to end frizz-causing porosity as it blocks humidity on the outside.

Our Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Conditioner adds moisture to every strand for long-lasting silky softness. It goes inside to end frizz-causing porosity and create a humidity-blocking shield on the outside, giving strands a polished finish.

PLUS, No Sulfates, No Parabens, No Petroleum, No Mineral Oil, No Artificial Colors

My results:

I first washed my 3B – 3C hair with the Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo and loved the texture of the shampoo.  It was thick and felt luxurious as I lathered up my hair. My hair rinsed clean with no sign of tangles or frizz. I could finger through it without it tangling. After squeezing out the excess water, I applied the Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Conditioner, which also is thick and creamy. I really hate rinsing this conditioner out when I used it because it just melts into my hair and feels great.

My hair is naturally soft and fine but with a very strong curl pattern. I found that my curls were defined and that I had no random hairs sticking out after rinsing out the conditioner. Even after air-drying, my hair was frizz-free.

The shampoo does contain some silicone, which doesn’t bother me, although if you are a naturalista who avoids that ingredient, know that the Cupuaçu Anti-Frizz Smoothing Shampoo contains Dimethicone, although it is about half-way down on the ingredient (lots of them0 list. The conditioner does not contain a silicone, but does contain Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, a water soluable ingredient that helps soften hair.

After 2 days of basic abuse to my hair — not tying it up for sleep, not sleeping on a satin or silk pillow case, and brushing it, I still had no frizz. On the third day, it was still looking great, but I applied a cream for hydration, so I can’t give a fair assessment of the 72 hours without frizz.
