CeleBeauty Watch: Get Cardi B's 2018 VMAs Look with Pat McGrath Labs & OLEHENRIKSEN

Hands down, the best head-to-toe glam at the 2018 VMAs goes to Cardi B. From her pixie hairstyle, to her post-baby snatched waist fuchsia velvet dress by Lebanese designer Nicolas Jebran with makeup from “Mother” Pat McGrath, Cardi defied the red carpet stream of nude dresses worn by her contemporaries. Erika La Pearl for Pat McGrath Labs gave Cardi her subtle yet sophisticated glam look.

Inspiration: “This is Cardi’s first red carpet after having a baby and we wanted to debut a more sophisticated look. Cardi has a new perspective on life. She can achieve it all and her look says that!”

Makeup – Eyes: I first measured the Kissed Lashes and cut the inner lash instead of the ends to give a more dramatic look. I then curled the lash before applying eyeshadow. I used a mix of bronze and purple shades from PAT McGRATH LABS MOTHERSHIP V: Bronze Seduction (launches September 7th) and MTHRSHP SUBVERSIVE: La Vie En Rose palettes on the eyes. I love the pops of purple you see on the lower lash line and wing. I achieved that with a wet pencil brush in ‘PURPLE REIGN’ and blended out with ‘EUPHORIA’ from the La Vie En Rose palette. To create a smokier effect on the eye we added ‘XTREME AUBERGINE’ to create a dramatic wing and ‘VR FIRE OPAL’ for that final pop on the inner corners from the MOTHERSHIP V: Bronze Seduction palette. To complete the cat eye, I used the PERMA PRECISION LIQUID EYELINER.

We knew we wanted to keep the lip neutral and full, so I used the LUXETRANCE: Lipstick in ‘SHE’S HEAVEN!’ for that sophisticated brown rose tint.

Makeup – Complexion: I used PAT McGRATH LABS SKIN FETISH: Highlighter + Balm Duo in ‘BRONZE’ for a golden glow and to accentuate the cheekbones.

Skin: La’ Pearl prepped Cardi’s skin with OleHenriksen Truth Serum ($48) to give the new mom’s skin a radiant glow. To further prime the skin, La’Pearl followed up with OleHenriksen Sheer Transformation Perfecting Moisturizer ($38), which instantly helps to smooth out skin texture for flawless foundation application. Finally, Erika applied the best-selling OleHenriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème ($38) to brighten up Cardi’s under eyes and create a smooth base for her concealer.
