Review of ShiKai Borage Oil Lotions: They Benefit My Super Dry Lupus Skin
A few years ago I was diagnosed with lupus. That diagnosis pretty much upended my life. As a beauty journalist, my life is all about skincare and makeup. However, when lupus attacked my body, not only was I affected physically in my body, but my skin took a huge hit.
My skin went from being my pride and joy as it was bright, clear and looked years younger than my chronological age, to being a dried up mess. My facial skin turned blotchy and my the skin on my arms looked like aligator skin.

I am so grateful that ShiKai offered me the opportunity to review their Borage Therapy Skin Care Dry Skin Body Lotions. Two of the company’s borage oil-based formulas have just been awarded with the prestigious National Eczema Association (NEA) Seal of Acceptance. ShiKai is also proud to be a sponsor of Eczema Awareness Month with NEA.
The two lotions that I have been using are the Borage Therapy Lotion – Original Formula and Borage Therapy Lotion – Advanced Formula.
Here Are the Details About Shikai Dry Skin Lotions
ShiKai Borage Therapy Lotion – Original Formula for Dry Skin $24.99:
Most lotions work on the skin’s surface to relieve the symptoms of dry skin, while ignoring the real cause that lies beneath the skin. Borage Therapy® provides more: it addresses the fundamental cause of the dryness and supplies the skin with Borage oil that has gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a vital omega-6 fatty acid. Borage Therapy keeps skin healthy and supple long after the lotion is applied – and even after it’s washed away.
ShiKai Borage Therapy Lotion – Advanced Formula $29.99
Borage Therapy Advanced Formula lotion contains significant levels of borage oil, thereby delivering GLA (a critical omega-6 fatty acid) for relief of dry irritated skin. The formulation is also fortified with three highly effective ingredients: oatmeal, rooibos extract and shea butter, for immediate moisturizing and soothing itch relief.
My review of ShiKai Borage Therapy Skin Care Dry Skin Body Lotions:
When I first read the “about” section of ShiKai, I was immediately drawn in, as the company is based in Santa Rosa, California, where I grew up. Now, that’s just a piece of trivia and has nothing to do with the efficacy of the products.
But, the ShiKai Borage Therapy Skin Care Dry Skin Body Lotions are indeed a dry skin saver. After using these body lotions with borage oils, I can say that they alleviate the itchiness of my dry skin and do an amazing job moisturizing. I typically apply the lotion after showering and additional layer before bed.Granted, I don’t particularly need a second application as the ShiKai lotions hydrate for hours on end. But, I’m so used to being dry, that I still feel the need to apply lotion before bed.
