Get the Look: Angela Bassett’s Makeup by Pat McGrath Labs at the 2018 Emmys

Defying age at a cool sixty-fine, Angela Bassett was fire at the 2018 Emmy Awards. Wearing a  strapless white gown, Bassett put every other gown to rest on the gold carpet. Sleek hair and magical makeup by D’Andre Michael for Pat McGrath Labs completed her look.

Inspiration: “My inspiration for Miss Angela’s look was old Hollywood – classic and elegant. Taking a note from Pat McGrath’s Max Factor Era with a modern approach to old Hollywood.”

Makeup – Eyes: For the eyes, I used the new MOTHERSHIP V: Bronze Ambition Palette to create the base of my look. I started with ‘ENTRAPMENT’ on the entire eye lid and then went in with ‘DISOBEDIENT’ in the crease. To deepen the look and create more drama, I added ‘XTREME AUBERGINE’ to the crease and blended out. I then took the MTHRSHP SUBLIME BRONZE AMBITION Palette in ‘ILLICIT’ and added it in to the center of the lid for dimension. For liner, I used the PERMA PRECISION Liquid Eyeliner along the lash line and added a touch of color with the PERMAGEL ULTRA GLIDE Eye Pencil in ‘BLITZ BLUE’ on the bottom eyelid. To create a smokey effect, I went back in with ‘DISOBEDIENT’ along the lower lash line and blended it into ‘XTREME AUBERGINE.’

Makeup – Skin: I used SKIN FETISH 003: Highlighter + Balm Duo in ‘BRONZE’ along the cheeks and bridge of the nose where natural light would normally hit. I then topped the cheeks off with the Balm side to create more glow.

Makeup – Lip: For her lips, I first lined them with the PERMAGEL ULTRA Lip Pencil in ‘MANHATTAN’ and then used the iconic MATTETRANCE Lipstick in ‘FLESH 5’ for a sultry nude.
