CeleBeauty Watch: Ciara Gives Her Signature Glam a Sultry Paris Upgrade

Ciara knows what works for her. At the BoF 500 Gala in Paris, the expectant mom didn’t stray far from her signature beauty playbook—she simply glammed it up a touch.

Wearing a sheer black lace Dolce & Gabbana look that celebrated her growing baby bump, Ciara paired the dramatic fashion moment with long honey-blonde waves, luminous skin, softly smoked eyes and a glossy nude lip.

It’s classic Ciara: sexy, polished and glamorous without looking overworked.

Her long hair fell in loose waves, with honey-blonde lengths framing her face. The makeup stayed equally sultry. Her eyes had a soft, dimensional smoke that looked like a combination of creamy and powdery textures, with deeper definition around the lashes and waterline.

The complexion was luminous but not overly highlighted. Instead, warmth from softly sculpted bronzer and a barely-there bronzed cheek seemed to melt into her skin. A glossy nude lip and pale manicure finished the look.

Prep for the Glow

Luminous makeup starts with the skin underneath it. Begin with a hydrating serum to give skin a fresh, plumped appearance before following with primer to create a smooth canvas for makeup.

Create a Luminous Complexion

Keep the foundation polished but skin-like. We’re skipping an obvious highlighter here—the luminosity should begin with well-prepped skin and continue through the complexion rather than sitting on top of it.

Try: LANCÔME TEINT IDOLE SHAPE STICK

Sculpt + Warm

Use the Shape Stick in a deeper shade as a cream contour/bronzer to softly sculpt the face and add warmth while maintaining that seamless, skin-like finish.

Add a Soft Bronzed Flush

Ciara’s cheek color is so subtle and bronzed that it practically blends into her complexion. Instead of adding a traditional blush, sweep a warm bronzing powder across the cheeks for a softly sun-warmed flush.

Set the Complexion

Finish the complexion with a light application of setting powder. Keep it strategic so you set the makeup without taking away the luminosity we created during skin prep.

Smoke Out the Eyes

Ciara’s eye makeup is where this otherwise classic look gets a little extra drama. The smoke is dimensional rather than flat, with warm brown tones, deeper definition around the lashes and a darkened waterline.

Start with the Café Crush palette to build the smoky eye.

Try: LANCÔME IDÔLE CAFÉ CRUSH EYESHADOW PALETTE

The LANCÔME CAFÉ CRUSH PALETTE is perfect for creating Ciara’s smoldering bronzy eye look. The number eyeshadows give you multiple options for not only creating Ciara’s look, but to create your own looks for day or night. The best steps for laying the base of the eye look with this palette are as follows:

  1. Apply deeper shades to smoke and define lash line
  2. Layer and blend the deeper shades
  3. Use your finger or a flat brush to apply one of the gorgeous shimmers on lids

Next, use Bronze Rich Eyeliner pencil to add warm, softly smudged definition under and around the lower lashes.

Deepen the waterline with Café Noir pencil. So easy to use and apply to the waterline, and it lasts!

Try: LANCÔME DRAMA LIQUI-PENCIL DRAMATIC EYELINER — CAFÉ NOIR

Create a tightline with Glossy Black Eyeliner close to the upper lash line.

Try: LANCÔME IDÔLE LINER — GLOSSY BLACK

Finish with plenty of black mascara to emphasize the lashes and complete the smoky bronzy eye.

Keep the Lips Glossy + Nude

No lipstick required. Define the lips with a warm nude liner, then go straight in with a juicy gloss. It keeps the lip soft enough to balance the smoky eyes while still delivering that signature Ciara polish.

Tracey’s Take

This is classic Ciara beauty to me: luminous skin, smoky eyes, glossy nude lips and long, sexy hair. For Paris, she simply glammed it up a touch.

And that’s what I like most about this look. You don’t always have to reinvent your makeup to make an impact. Sometimes you take what already works, turn up the glamour a notch and go.
