Wunmi Mosaku is having a well-deserved cover-star moment.

For British Vogue’s October 2026 issue, the BAFTA-winning British Nigerian actor commands the cover in a vivid Klein-blue embroidered organza dress by Bottega Veneta, finished with white-gold, diamond, emerald and sapphire earrings by Bvlgari. Photographed by Dan Jackson and styled by Julia Sarr-Jamois, the portrait is bold, elegant and unmistakably Wunmi.

Mosaku’s rise to global recognition accelerated with her magnetic performance as Annie, the hoodoo healer in Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. Yet the accompanying profile reveals a woman whose story extends far beyond a breakout role: she is an actor, mother, entrepreneur and advocate who remains deeply rooted in her Nigerian heritage and Manchester upbringing.

The Cover Story

The editorial brought Mosaku back to Manchester with her two children and was photographed in the city’s historic Deansgate district. It was also a family celebration: Mosaku turned 40 during the shoot, while her mother, Irene, celebrated her own birthday on set.

In the interview, Mosaku speaks candidly about motherhood, beauty standards, body acceptance and the realities of navigating fashion after pregnancy. Her message feels especially timely: women deserve to be dressed—and celebrated—in the bodies they have now, not only when they conform to a sample size.

Her reflections on dark-skinned beauty are equally powerful. Mosaku discusses growing up without often hearing that she was pretty and rejects the pressure to hurt or radically change oneself in pursuit of a narrow ideal. Her personal mantra, “Love yourself or hurt yourself,” gives the story an emotional center that reaches well beyond fashion.

Editor’s Note

What makes this cover memorable is not simply the electric blue dress or Mosaku’s luminous beauty. It is the fullness of the woman being celebrated: 40, newly postpartum, ambitious, culturally grounded and unwilling to make herself smaller for the comfort of an industry.

For Black women who have rarely seen dark skin, natural curves and motherhood treated as part of a leading lady’s glamour, Wunmi Mosaku’s British Vogue cover feels both overdue and deeply affirming.
