What I’m Trying Now: Jane Carter Solution Twist and Lock

I have been #teamnatural for about 10 years now. Of course, the decision to embrace one's natural hair texture is a personal one, made for many different reasons. Environmental and health-related concerns, cultural consciousness, and even curiosity all top the list of reasons a woman may decide to stop relaxing her strands and "go natural."

Being the minimalist that I am, I initially decided to kick the so-called "creamy crack" cold turkey for purely practical reasons: to save time and money. It wasn't until later that other factors beyond economy and convenience informed my decision to stay natural.

That said, I think I've worn nearly every natural hair style there is: a nearly-bald fade, the infamous afro, braids, twists, coils, knots, twist-and braid-outs, loose natural hair, and now, locks.

Naturally, I've spent a good deal of my journey browsing natural hair boards and forums for advice and styling suggestions, looking for the perfect product to style my 4a/4b curls. I work hard to curb my "product junkie" enthusiasm and keep a simple routine, but it's a challenge to keep low maintenance styling methods with highly textured tresses. Now with locked hair, I still find myself searching the 'net for the "holy grail" locking gel, butter or wax to style my shoulder-length locks. Enter Jane Carter Solution Twist and Lock…

Hair's the 411 on Jane Carter Solution Twist and Lock:

With all natural butters, vitamins, and essential oils, Twist & Lock provides much-needed emoliency while increasing moisture and shine on your hair and scalp. This product is formulated for use on freshly twisted hair, as well as in between salon visits. Twist & Lock is the perfect moisturizing product to keep your natural hair healthy and shiny and it doesn’t contain any wax or petrolatum!

Ingredients: Purified Water, Shea Butter, Kokum Butter, Illippe Butter, Mango Butter, Vtamins A, D, & E, Sweet Orange, Lemongrass, Grapefruit, Palmarosa, Cedarwood, Geranium, Bergamot, Rosemary Essential Oils, Jojoba, Glycerin, Polysorbate 80, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl acrylate Crosspolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Potassium Sorbate, Sorbic Acid.

I've heard so many good things about the Jane Carter Solution, and I hope my experience mirrors all the positive feedback. My main concern is avoiding buildup in my dreads, which I've done successfully since I started them 2 years ago. I also need a product that provides really good hold since I've got a fearsome two inches of new growth to tame!

Jane Carter Twist and Lock also receives rave reviews for twists and twistouts on natural hair, so I look forward to trying this out on my daughter's kinky-curly mane and finding out how it rates compared to similar products.

So hair goes nothing! I'm going to see how  Jane Carter Twist and Lock performs and I'll report back to you shortly!
