Best Black Budget Eyeliners — Eyeliner 5 Ways

Let’s face it, no matter what the trend du jour may be, every self-respecting woman has at least one, if not more, black eyeliners in her arsenal of eye paint. And we all know that the smokey eye, smoldering eye, the “day after” eye  are all looks that are here to stay.  To acheive these prized lined looks you need a dependable eyeliner.  A look at our favorite celebrities who rock the liner like Rihanna, Angelina Jolie, Kerry Washington and Avril Lavigne just adds fuel to the fire that we have to keep a black liner on stand by for all occasions.

I have lined my eyes with every type of liner out there, and I have to admit amigas, that there is no one perfect liner — there are dozens!  Pencils, kohl, liquid, gels, creams, felt tips — they all get the job done.  The good news is that you don’t have to spend $20, $25 or $30 for a great eyeliner.

Check out my top 5 picks for budget eyeliner:

1.  CoverGirl Line Exact Felt Tip Liner

Forget wishing you could use your Sharpie for eyeliner. This felt tip liner from CoverGirl creates thin or bold lines, is smudge proof and lasts all day!  Creating Angelina Jolie’s signature “cat eye” is a breeze with this compact little liner.  And coming in under $7, you will forget how much you love that Lancome Art Liner.  Well, at least I will…

2.  L’Oreal HIP Kohl Eyeliner

I love this liner. The very presence of kohl just gives you that smoldering eye that is reminiscent of the beautiful women of the Middle East and Northern Africa.  L’Oreal HIP Kohl Eyelliner produces deep dark smokey eyes.  Just think of Avril Levigne with that black-out eye — a little overdone, but that’s the power of pigment when using a kohl liner.  $13.99 is not bad for a such a potent eyeliner.

4.  Black Radiance Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

I have used soooooo many waterproof liquid liners over the years. Recently I discovered Black Radiance makeup, and I can’t believe I never knew about this brand before.  I’m in love with every product I have purchased from them, including the liquid eyeliner!  It has a perfect tip, the black is really, really black and once it dries down, it stays put baby.  Smudgeproof to boot!  Love it!  At $3.99  you just can’t lose with this best budget beauty buy.   Kerry Washington always has perfectly rimmed eyes that are easily acheiveable with a liquid liner.

5.  Boots Botanics Cream Eyeliner

I have been an advocate of cream gel eyeliner for so long now, I’m tired of hearing myself rant and rave over this stuff. But guess what ladies, it’s the to die for liner.  I have previously blogged about the virtues of Bobbi Brown and Smashbox gel liners, but there’s a new player in town.  Check out Boots Botanics, fresh from across the Atlantic and making converts of Americans.  I think the itty bitty little brush that comes with the liner is useless, but I appreciate the gesture.  Factor in that it’s smudge-resistant, long-lasting and only $7.99 I think Boots Cream Eyeliner is a fantastic deal.  Thandie Newton is one of my favorite faces — she keeps her makeup simple and classic.  I love her eyeliner in this photo — looks like the perfect dose of cream  eyeliner!

So friends, no excuses to be without an eyeliner.  Multiply these 5 by a few hundred, and BAM, you will find all the liner your little heart desires at your favorite neighborhood drugstore!
