Product Review: NYX: Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation

I was recently given an opportunity to try the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation.  This was right up my alley.

The stars aligned to give this beauty product junkie with an occasional oily complexion the chance to try a new product that dares to claim to “stay matte” in the face of the dreaded mid-day/humid weather oil slicks.

As an admitted  MAC Studiofix Powder  Foundation addict, I was ready for the challenge.

Admittedly, I was not very familiar with the NYX line of cosmetics, but I decided to take a leap of faith.  As a powder foundation, would it provide the level of coverage that I desired, and had become accustomed to from my existing regimen?

Secondly, would the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation successfully tame or contain the most overactive team of sebaceous glands I know????   Drumroll please……………

I’m going to also need the cymbal clash.  Thanks!

Here's the info on NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation:

Get the matte finish that features effortless, natural-looking hues to help you achieve a flawless complexion. The Stay Matte Not Flat Powder Foundation comes in a variety of gorgeous shades that provide the perfect finish to flatter all skin tones!

To say I was pleasantly surprised is an understatement.  I was very impressed with this powder foundation.  The level of coverage that the foundation offered was more than adequate, while still looking very natural.

NYX also kept shine away for a number of hours before I had to pull out my oil blotting sheets.  Best of all and most surprisingly, the shade SMP 08 Golden Beige was an exact match to my natural skintone.  Additionally, when I found out this product is only $9.50, I was shocked!

On the Bling Factor Rating System….I give the NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation 4 blings. It came in very strong, giving my standard powder foundation a run for its money, literally. I may have to rethink my daily lineup.

Bling Factor:

Pros: Delivers on keeping away the oilies for a respectable stretch of time. Provides adequate coverage. Comes in 15 shades from ivory to chestnut.  This product should provide a great match for many skintones. Great price!

Cons: Not quite as much coverage as some of the heavy hitter and more expensive powder foundations, but enough for daily wear.

Buy Again: Yes

Pricing: $9.50

Packaging: 3 Blings- Shiny black, standard style compact. Contains vented area for storage of makeup sponge on bottom of compact.

Overall: 4 Blings- This product would earn 5 blings if compared with similar products at this price point.
