Product Review-Makeup: Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30

If I’ve said it once, I have said it a gazillion times, I love for my skin to look radiant, velvety with a smooth finish. I’m not a fan of powdered finishes, unless I’m being  photographed, so my go-to foundations are ones that deliver a sheer-to-medium radiant finish. Well, I was recently send Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30 to try out, and I’m so excited about this product, I can hardly stand it!

Here are the details about Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30 $42:

smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30What it is:
A sheer-to-medium BB water with a liquid-silk texture that delivers multiple benefits in just one drop.

What it is formulated to do:
– Oil-free formulation with built-in primer water technology that creates a liquid silk-consistency to glide easily onto your face and moves with the skin
– Features SPF 30 sun protection
– Comes in eight shades

This multitasking BB water with SPF 30 is an ultra-hydrating and oil-free formula that creates a sheer, radiant finish that lasts all day. It delivers a demi-matte complexion that’s never flat, creating a natural-looking canvas, and it minimizes the look of fine lines, pores, and blemishes. This unique BB water allows you to build coverage and does not cause any drying, cracking, or caking during wear.

What else you need to know:
“It all starts with skin in the studio. A sheer finish on the face reflects natural light better and highlights contours like cheekbones.”—Davis Factor, Founder and Photographer

“Remember, it’s all about perfecting—not masking your skin. You only need to apply foundation on places that need coverage.”—Lori Taylor Davis, Global Pro Lead Artist

My results:

First of all, I have to proclaim my love for the dropper bottle — genius.  How often do you either pour out too much foundation from the bottle and have to dispose of it, or not enough to you have to go back and repeat? Either way, it’s a hassle. Minor hassle, but not the less, a step I would rather not have to deal with. And it’s a much neater way to dispense your makeup onto a brush or sponge.

Now, for the formula itself…I’m pretty much amazed at how much coverage I get from a foundation that is “water.” Granted, it is a sheer or light finish, but what a difference it makes in my skin.  It evens the tone, minimizes my pores and gives my skin an all over glow. I applied it pretty heavy the first time around, and ended up with a medium finish, and I love it.

Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30 wears well — it doesn’t fade and at the end of the day, my skin still looks finished. I used the BB Water in Medium/Dark and it was the  perfect match. I think because of the lightness of the formula, you can easily get a match with all skin tones. One thing I love about Smashbox is that I am consistently a medium/dark in every complexion product, so that makes it simple to shop the brand. This is an oil free foundation, so anyone can use it and feel perfectly comfortable with the formula.

I paired Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum SPF 30 with the Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes Broad Spectrum SPF 15 and it’s the perfect pairing for complexion perfection!
