Product Review—Makeup: Lancôme Teint Idole 24H Foundation–New Shades that Work for Brown Skin

I am an avowed tinted moisturizer user, with a recent transition to BB Cream and CC Creams.  So, it’s pretty clear that I love sheer coverage when it comes to a foundation type product.  However, on occasion, I want to up my beauty ante, and that calls for calling out the big guns—full coverage foundation.  Now, while I don’t wear foundation daily, I am still nonetheless quite particular about my choices in foundation.

My ideal foundation must meet my skin’s undertone as well as my color.  That’s hard because I’m brown with a very strong yellow undertone.  I prefer SPF in my foundation and my favorite coverage has a tad bit of luminosity in the formula.

Needless to say, when I saw that Lancôme had expanded its range of brown foundations, I couldn’t wait to try them.

About Lancôme Teint Idole 24H Foundation:

lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation 450 Suede NWhat it is:
A perfecting foundation with 24-hour staying power.

What it does:
This velvety smooth foundation blends effortlessly for shine-free, round-the-clock comfort. Retouching throughout the day is unnecessary with this expert formula, which took Lancome eight years of research to perfect and unveil. Available in an impressively wide range of shades, Teint Idole Ultra 24H provides all skintones flawless, even, complexion-perfecting coverage.

My results:

I had no trouble finding a color match in Teint Idole Ultra 24H foundation.  As a matter of fact, I had two foundation shades that matched quite well. (I chose 450 Suede N as it matches the darker areas of my face)

I have worn this foundation on several occasions, as I wanted to provide a true opinion of its wearability under various circumstances-

1.  Coverage:

This foundation covers amazingly well, evening out my complexion while only using just a about a half a pump.  The coverage is so complete, that unless I am experiencing extreme darkness under my eyes, Teint Idole 24H suffices as an under eye concealer

2.  Texture and Finish:

The finish of this foundation is semi-matte and velvety. I didn’t think I would like a semi-matte finish as my preference is for more of a radiant, dewy finish, but Lancome proved me wrong.   The finish is so light that I don’t feel like I am wearing a full-coverage foundation.  Additionally, it photographs well, even with the SPF factor included.

3.  Color:

I was extremely happy to have more than one color that would work for me.  Even though I have a yellow undertone, I found that the 450 Suede Neutral look perfectly natural, and like I had nearly perfect skin, as opposed to looking like I was wearing foundation.

I have also worked with the foundation on a variety of brown tone and found that it works well on the fairest of brown skins to the deepest.  (photoshoot to come of this gargantuan project!)

4.   SPF Bonus:

I love the inclusion of an SPF of 15 and that it does not look ashy on brown skin.  Big props for that one!

5.   Long Wear:

I have worn Teint Idole 24H for 24 hours—due to my sleeping my makeup, and I have to admit it looked pretty darn good when I woke up.   I recently wore this foundation in Las Vegas in sweltering heat, and it lasted for hours, without melting or losing its integrity.

The packaging is elegant—a frosted glass bottle with a pump that allows one to dispense just the right amount of foundation. I love Teint Idole 24H foundation, and can’t wait to show the results of using this foundation on other brown skin beauties!
