Product Review: I’m in Love with Illamasqua
llamasqua is the product of a heady mix of influences. Its roots stem from the dark and illicit 1920s club scene, and combine a rich heritage in the manufacture of make-up for film and theatre. It also takes inspiration from members of the ‘alternative scenes’ for whom self-expression is paramount. Alternative cultures have always dared to be dramatic. They have an emotional attachment to making up. It’s an expression of their darker side, a release for their alter ego.
Illamasqua is for the bolder person hiding inside all of us. It is an act and an attitude. A symbol of tolerance. A celebration of idiosyncrasies. A confident statement of self-ownership.
I had amazing coverage with this foundation. Only a dot went a very long way and even covered my under eye circles. With level of coverage, one would expect a heavy feeling and looking foundation. But nothing could be further from the truth. This foundation is light as air and the skin looks amazing.
I received the Eye Brow Cake in Thunder, a dark brown. I used it on a photo shoot Monday and my client was in love with her brows. Perfect texture and color!
I also received the Eye Liner Cake in Mislead — pure black. I used this also on the shoot and it dried quickly, was smudgeproof and I was able to create a dramatically lined eye. (photos to come!)
I had read about Liquid Metal and was very anxious to try it. It did not disappoint. It is gorgeous on the skin — melts right in and leaves a luminous gleam. Love it!
I now have my absolute favorite new red lipstick — Illamasqua lipstick in Box. It’s a deep scarlet red matte, but not at all drying. I love, love, love it. I’m going to take a picture of myself in it and show you!
