Product Review—Hair: Nubian Heritage Honey and Black Seed Heat Protect Keratin Leave-In Conditioning Cream

My friends consider me “Ms. All Natural Organic Girl” in almost every area of my life.  You will find me in Whole Foods (a.k.a. Whole Paycheck) and Trader Joes at least once a week.  Little do they know I have a dirty little secret….

When it comes to my low-porosity, 3c African American hair, I will use whatever chemicals or phosphates will keep it laid and looking luscious. Needless to say, my expectations were low when I tried Nubian Heritage Honey and Black Seed Heat Protect Keratin Leave-In Conditioning Cream. Nubian Heritage claims that their all-natural conditioning cream provides all-day straightness and shine, while protecting hair from heat styling damage.

Nubian Heritage Honey and Black Seed Heat Protect Keratin Leave-In Conditioning CreamReported Benefits:

  • Heat protection, moisture retention
  • Arabian honey and macadamia nut oil moisturize, repair and protect scalp
  • Black seed oil rejuvenates and balances hair and scalp with its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and healing benefits
  • Babassu oil strengthens hair and preserves elasticity
  • Carrot oil helps protect against thermal damage
  • Keratin helps repair damage and nourishes hair, leaving it smooth and silky

What I love about it:

Ever since I was a small child I have been extremely sensitive to smells.  I once “tossed my cookies” in the car when my sister passed gas during a family road trip.   Though I have a tougher countenance now, I still detest the majority of perfumes and fragrances and tend to drift toward lighter scents.

I was shocked when I instantly fell in love with the aroma of Nubian Heritage Conditioning Cream!  Every time I turned my head during the day I was met with a smell so pleasant I smiled.  I looked so ridiculous with all the head turning and “mmming” that my co-workers thought I was suffering from severe neck pain.

Even better, I was interrupted after the first time I used the conditioning cream and was unable to immediately wash my hands.  I expected them to be sticky or oily.  I later realized that I didn’t even notice that I hadn’t washed my hands because the product completely absorbed into my skin right away and left it even softer than my hair!  I have never experienced that with any other leave-in conditioner.

I found that my natural, black hair loved the lightweight moisture and conditioning of Nubian Heritage.  It should be noted that I did not use heat tools but put the conditioning cream on as a leave-in every day after dampening my hair for a curly look.  There was no buildup, as one would expect after daily use of a product.  Heat protection is a priority for women in general but a necessity for black women.  If Nubian Heritage conditioning cream can do that as well it’s ahead of the game.

Nubian Heritage Honey and Black Seed Heat Protect Keratin Leave-In Conditioning Cream may be the product that actually turns me into the authentic, all natural girl that I long to be.
