New York Fashon Week Spring 2014: Backstage Beauty—JINsoon Nails by Jin Soon Choi for Tibi SS 2014 Runway Show

The inspiration behind Tibi’s Spring/Summer 2014 runway show was the “Traveler”. The Tibi woman embarked on a road trip journey, from Asia to Arizona. It was an adventure of environmental beauty mixed with the grittiness of getting to her end destination.

Jin Soon Choi created a nail design that expressed a visual language developed by American travelers who lived a nomadic life in the 1920s. These signs were used to help fellow travelers navigate; the vertical/horizontal lines on the nails were an extraction from the traveler symbol “all right.”

Thin Nail Art Brush
Nail Polish Remover

1. File and clean nails, removing all traces of polish
2. Apply JINsoon Power Coat to strengthen and prime nails
3. Apply two coats of off-white/blue-gray nail polish (the shade Jin used was from her upcoming JINsoon
Spring 2014 Collection)
4. Once nails are completely dry, take a thin nail art brush and dip the end in JINsoon Obsidian. Carefully
paint a straight line vertically down the nail on the middle finger
5. On the nails either side of the middle finger, repeat step 3 but paint horizontal lines through the middle of
the nails
6. Finish by applying a single coat of JINsoon Top Gloss

Bad Beauty Habits: Taylor Resolves to Wash Her Face

I don't have acne or breakout much, so I usually just wash my face in the shower with plain water and rush out the door (after drying off and getting dressed, of course).
