New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: b Michael AMERICA RED Collection Launch at Macy’s Herald Square

b Michael launched AMERICA RED, his first ready-to-wear collection at Macy's Herald Square in NYC on September 6, 2012, for Fashion’s Night Out (#FNO).  Fashionistas, bloggers and b Michael's celebrity friends like Cicely Tyson were on hand to welcome his addition to the Macy's family of designer brands.

A diversion from his couture designs, AMERICA RED, made in America, is an accessible line for the everyday woman launching at select Macy's.

b Michael, a former a former account executive for a Wall Street firm, decided to pursue his creative side and launched a successful millinery line after designing for Oscar de La Renta and Louis Feraud among others.  He has dressed a diverse clientele—Beyoncé to Nancy Wilson.

b michael AMERICA RED takes inspiration from the dramatic looks that the designer created through his collaboration with costume designer Ruth Carter for Whitney Houston in the movie SPARKLE.

The collection features dresses and separates with clean lines, striking necklines and dramatic sleeves.  The color palette for AMERICA RED  is primarily neutral, with a few bold prints sprinkled in for good measure.  b Micheal AMERICA RED pieces sell from $155 to $400.

A meet and greet was held at  Ayza Chocolate and Wine Bar where bloggers gathered to nosh and revel in the afterglow of the launch.
