It's National Margarita Day: Add Lime, Salt & Lipgloss
Who knew that there was a National Margarita Day? I didn't know until yesterday, but now that I do, I will never forget! I've done my share of tequila shots—some I remember, most I don't. I even did the worm once, so I can cross that off my list. I've also had my share of margaritas. I happen to love the Cadillac Margarita, rocks, no salt, with Silver Patron— at my local neighborhood bar, Ben & Nicks. They don't mess around at this bar. I'm happy that Ben & Nicks is within walking distance… So with all these thoughts of agave-derived adult beverages, I wondered how many tequila-inspired beauty products I could come up with. And you know what? Clearly my mind is on overload, because I listed quite a few 'intoxicating' faves. Check out my Margarita Day beauty picks! 1. Straight Up Tequila Shots Who knew that salt and lime, two margarita must-haves, are a perfect pair for cleansing? Give this dynamic duo a 'shot' with a tequila bar that never closes. Try: Biggs & Featherbelle Tequila Bar, Handmade Natural Bar Soap for Face & Body, Cleanse—Sea Salt & Lime 4.99 2. Feminine Margarita You don't need a glass to enjoy this "Margarita." After you get down and dirty, this 3-in-1 will get you clean from head to toe. Bottoms up! Try: Philosophy Senorita Margarita $16 3. Don't Forget the Lime Skip the florals and spritz on a fresh citrus-based fragrance. Wear it 'straight' or combine with other Malone colognes for a signature scent. Try: Jo Malone French Lime Blossom Cologne $65 4. Add Salt While it's preferred on the rim of the glass, high quality salt will make your skin feel just like a premium tequila- refreshingly sweet and impossibly smooth. Try: Ole Henriksen Rub 'N Buff Salt Scrub $48 5. Mix it up with a Flavored Margarita Nothing is worse than lipstick on your glass when you are drinking. Try a stay-put lip stain instead! Try: Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Mango Crush $24 And of course if you are watching your calories, you may want to try the Skinny Girl Margarita by Bethenny Frankel! A smart, delicious answer to high-calorie restaurant margaritas, this is the one that started it all! The Skinnygirl Cocktails Margarita is fresh tasting (the way it should be), full of natural flavors, lightly sweetened with agave nectar and made with premium Blue Agave Tequila. But it’s still only 100 calories for a full 4 oz serving, so you can forget the guilt. Or if you are a DIY girl, here is a great Cadillac Margarita recipe from Drink Mixer: 1 1/2 oz tequila 1 oz Grand Marnier orange liqueur 1/4 oz fresh lime juice Shake 100% blue agava tequila with Grand Marnier and lime juice, and strain into a chilled salt-rimmed cocktail glass.
