Wet 'n Wild, the 80's iconic beauty brand that was a staple in every teen girl's handbag is still going strong after 30 years.  Who doesn't remember the most coveted Wet 'n Wild lip color in the collection, 521—Fuchsia with Blue Pearl LipStick that was always sold out at the local People's Drug Store because every girl had to have it?

This throwback pink lipstick (that still remains a part of the collection today) was surely a must-have amongst our clique when I was growing up.

Wet 'n Wild celebrated the launch of their 2012 collection recently at The Setai's ultra-posh restaurant, Ai Fiori on Fifth Ave in New York City.  The event took place in a private-dining area with a wine-lined wall, white tablecloths, sparkly and pristine flatware and a delectable assortment of housemade pastries, preserves and seasonal fruit.

The select group of 15+ beauty bloggers and writers surrounded the table as Pia and Cate dished on Wet 'n Wild's 2012 collection.

Although the new 2012 collection includes a mineral bronzer, numerous eyeliners and eye shadows, the real draw is their strategic return to Wet 'n Wild's roots, their core – the lip and nail color collections. The newly expanded salon-quality nail collections include the new "Spoiled" line, which boasts over 72 unique and vibrant shades, and the five day chip-resistant "Megalast" collection, each for just $1.99 a bottle!

The 2012 Wet 'n Wild Lip Collection introduces:

  • "Juicy" Lip Balms SPF 15 ($2.99) in four fruity flavors
  • "MegaLast" Lip Color ($1.99) in six new colors
  • "MegaShield" Lip Color SPF 15 ($2.99) in 14 sheer-to-moderate shades
  • "Perfect Pair" Lip Wand ($3.99) in four dual-ended sticks

Surprisingly, after all these years,  Wet 'n Wild  has been able to maintain its unbelievably affordable price tag, even as the brand continues to evolve season-after-season, introducing newly innovative, fun and fashionable trend-worthy products.  It's no wonder  Wet 'n Wild  remains one of the strongest contenders in the beauty game, raking in various awards including the 2009 Fitness Beauty Award, the 2009 Allure Editior's Choice Award, the 2010 Allure Best of Beauty Award, the 2011 Essence Beauty Awards and two 2011 Healthy Beauty Awards from Self Magazine.

Judging by their growth, expansion and ability to sustain such a strong foothold in the world of beauty after 30 years in a ever-changing industry, I imagine  Wet 'n Wild  has at least another 30 years left in them, if not more!

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
