Bling or Ding: ESPY Red Carpet Arrivals

The 2011 ESPY Awards took place this past Wednesday night. While I did not have the pleasure of watching it on TV (I don't have time nowadays it seems), I was able to see the various looks on some of my favorite blogs.

Obviously it would be wrong of me to gush my infatuation with Kerry Washington's style choices for the duration of this post so I will refrain from doing so. However, just know Ms. Washington was once again the best dressed.

She showed out in a beaded dolman Jenny Packham Fall 2011 sheath with a matching silver clutch, H. Stern jewelry and Gio Diev heels. Five star blinging all the way!

With that said, the lowdown on the rest of the ladies of the ESPYs:

Serena Williams — I did not enjoy the view of the parasitic twins on her chest — Tweedledum is bigger than Tweedledee I'm afraid. I loved the fuschia though – the hue really popped on her skin but this skirt suit by Rachel Roy was too tight and a tad too short. Ding!

Shaun Robinson — Surprisingly, I liked the the design of her dress. Overall her entire look was safe – silver/black dress, silver strapping heels and silver shadow – but it's cute. Bling!

Laila Ali — Ali opted for a lacy Tadashi Shoji Spring 2011 dress. I love that she chose embellished champagne heels instead of black (too safe I think) but I wished she had went with a more colorful ensemble. You know, show off that banging, post-baby body why don't ya! Bling!

Holly Robinson Peete — The black, floorlength gown is killing me but overall Peete looked good. Bling!

Estelle — I want to ask what type of Mickey Mouse operation she's running here. This is like a glorified parachute with sleeves — where's a "no" man when you need one? Was Kevin Hart not available? Its a Sheri Bodell mini with Royal Asscher jewelry. I'm upset because Estelle is too great for this but three things I liked was (1) she wore cream – nice contrast against her chocolate skin, (2) her tan shoes, which were a major improvement from those dusty, faded black pumps she wore to the Pre-ESPY party and (3) her Royal Asscher diamond which help support Russell Simmons’ nonprofit  Diamond Empowerment Fund. The organization aims to cease the circulation of conflict diamonds in Africa. Ding! for the dress, Bling! for the color, shoes and accessories.

Who were the standouts for you?
