Guided by the legacy of ancient Nubia, the world’s first melting pot, we remix global healing traditions into modern wellness solutions. We got our start as street vendors in Harlem. Fresh out of college and without jobs, we set out to bring the healing traditions of African black soap and shea butter to the community we loved.
We are dedicated to alleviating poverty in the communities that comprise our supply chain. Shea butter is central to all our products, so that’s where we started. We remix indigenous ingredients born from healing traditions around the globe to create products that meet the skin and hair care needs of women and men. Find the product that’s right for you.

started in 1991 when founders Richelieu Dennis and Nyema Tubman, both friends, immigrated to the United States from their home country of Liberia. Dennis comes from a family of soap makers, and, with Tubman’s help, put that background to work selling Nubian Heritage products on the sidewalks of New York City in 1992.
