Trending—Fall Makeup: Come Over to the Dark [Lipstick] Side

Trending hot and heavy for this Fall are deep red lips.  Call them bordeaux, oxblood, burgundy–just wear take a walk on the dark side. Bad Girl RiRi has flirted with the deep red lip. Foregoing her usual nude lips, Beyoncé has cheated with a dark red lip.  Most recently, the queen of the pouty nude lip Kim Kardashian perfectly paired a clean face with bloody red lips.  Oxblood that is.

Of course, we expect that supermodels can wear a Bordeaux lip, and wear it well, just as Joan Smalls did at the  the amfAR New York Gala To Kick Off Fall 2012 Fashion Week at Cipriani Wall Street on February 8, 2012 in New York City. And even more recently, model turned mogul, Iman rocked a dark lip at the Estee Lauder ‘Modern Muse’ Fragrance Launch Party at the Guggenheim Museum.   Our lineup of beautiful dark lips would not be complete without our  red carpet favorite, Kerry Washington.

Dark lipstick is best worn with soft, pretty makeup.  Forget the smokey eyes and heavy cheek contouring.  Instead, luminous skin, flirty eyelashes and a soft cheek all are the perfect accents to a dark red lipstick.  Let your lips do the talking.

I was drawn to this post first because of Beyoncé being on the cover photo. I love this woman so much, she is truly an inspiration to me. I was very surprised to see her rocking such a dark, bold lipcolor. I love the dark lip trend for the fall season, however, I have always thought it looked a bit over dramatic on me. This gives me the urge to want to try again this year to find that perfect dark shade for me.

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
