Take 5: Best Black Waterproof Eyeliners Under $10

We get it—you're obsessed with black eyeliner. And to quote Pat McGrath, "Obsession is a good place to come from." If you find it difficult to forgo the basic black even in these last, sweltering days of summer, that's understandable too.

Since this is not an adaption of The Crow, there's no need for you to look as if you came to audition for the role, right? With that said, try a waterproof version of the classic makeup staple.

Better yet, your inner fashionista won't have to skimp on goodies from Fashion's Night Out as we've found five fabulous liners $10 or less to keep your graphic game on lock:

1. Nyx Cosmetics Slide on Pencil in Jet Black, $8

What it is:

A silky soft pencil that applies like an eyeliner.

What it does:

Delivers powerful, robust color to the eyes witthout smearing or smudging.

2. Wet 'n' Wild H20 Proof Liquid Eyeliner, $4

What it is:

A liquid eyeliner that is long-lasting and waterproof.

What it does:

Uses a felt tip brush to create a precise, eye defining line that is smudgeproof.

3. Black Radiance Continous Creme Eyeliner, $5

What it is:

A creme eyeliner that delivers a smooth, rich application.

What it does:

Endlessly defines the eyes with either a soft, smoky look or a dramatic, precise finish. The creamy texture lines and contours the eye without tugging or pulling on the lid.

4. Mary Kay Eyeliner in Black, $10

What it is:

A mechanical pencil that never needs sharpening.

What it does:

Glides on smoothly without tugging at the eye area thanks to the creamy, long-lasting formula which is also waterproof, smudge-resistant and fade-resistant.

5. Essence Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Black, $2.79

What it is:

A waterproof liquid eyeliner that allows a particularly easy and accurate application.

What it does:

Creates expressive eyes in a flash…even in bad weather.

For the grand finale, let's explore two ways on how to define your line from the runway:

Mod Meow (Gianfranco Ferré): As makeup artist Peter Philips told Allure Magazine, "It's rock 'n roll, with a '60s reference on the eyes." The trick is to  let your liner follow the natural curve of your eye without a "hook to the line." All you have to do is trace your upper lashline–from inner corner to outer corner–and apply a small tail at the end by lifting "ever so slightly at the end."

Boudoir Beauty (Giorgio Armani): This particular look is achieved best when you use a cream eyeliner as a base with black powder eyeshadow on top. Inspired by a photo of a pinup, makeup artist Linda Cantello extended the upper lash line a quarter-inch from the outer corner. She then started the lower lash line in the middle and extended it outward, tracing "underneath the bottom lashes.
