Summer Makeup Trends — Look #1 Bright Lipstick
I recently saw this photo of Megan Fox sporting bright lips and a fresh clean face. Just look how pretty bright lips can be when you let them be the focus. Remember, to wear this summer makeup look, you must keep the rest of your makeup bare and neutral.
How to get the look:
1. Perfect your skin.
I would recommend a tinted moisturizer to start with. A tinted moisturizer gives your skin a dewy finish plus minimal coverage that will give your skin a luminous finish. I’m in love with Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer. Plus Lorac makes a fab tinted moisturizer that is a perfect partner for oily skins.
2. Conceal
Be sure you have used concealer under eyes to cover any circles. You can dot concealer other places on the face to mask imperfections.
3. Define Brows
Give your brows a little difinition. Try a soft pencil or a powder. Summer is the time to lighten up, so you may consider going a shade lighter on your brow color. Lighter brows tend to open up the eyes a bit more. For women who are on the mature side, making your brows a shade lighter puts youth on your side! Check out Anastasia’s brow products. Anastasia got Oprah’s eyebrows in perfect condition and styles them for each of Oprah’s magazine shoots. If you need a tutorial on brows, click here.
5. Blush or Bronze
Summer is the ideal time to experiment with a cream blush or cream bronzer for your summer makeup look. Cream blushes and bronzers give a fresh from-within glow. If you are on the oily skin side, set the cream blush or cream bronzer with a light loose setting powder. I adore NARS Multiples. NARS has three cream bronzers to choose from in the multiple selection — Tuomota (bronzer – for light to medium complexions), Tuomota (bronzer – for light to medium complexions) and Rapa Nui (bronzer – for dark complexions). For evening top your bronzer with just a dot of blusher to give cheeks extra radiance. Nars The Multiple is the original all-in-one, cream-to-powder, multi-purpose makeup stick. With fingertip application, The Multiple highlights, sculpts, and warms eyes, cheeks, lips, and body. For blush I am a fan of Clinique Blushwear Cream Stick . Convenient cream-to-powder blush stick glides on color for a natural, all-day glow. Blends easily with fingertips to desired intensity and coverage.
6. Bright Lips!
Last but not least, bright lips! After you have completed the steps above, now is the time to experiment with your bright lips. Don’t be afraid to try a bright lipstick, even if you have dark skin. I have loved YSL cometics for years. The color selection in YSL is fabulous and the textures and wearabilty are superb. The quality of YSL makeup transcends the cost. Plus the chi chi packaging is simply elegant. YSL ROUGE VOLUPTÉ Silky Sensual Radiant Lipstick SPF 15 won the 2008 Allure Best of Beauty Editors’ Choice Award Winner, Best Bright Lipstick in Provocative Pink #10. It was also 2009 CEW Insider’s Choice Prestige Lip Beauty Award Winner. At $34 per tube, it certainly fits into my Ka-ching bling category, but it’s well worth it. Other bright lipstick colors worth trying from the collection are #11 Rose Culte, #14 Orange Shiver and #15 Extreme Coral.
I love Rosario Dawson with a brighter lip, she stands out and looks even brighter and radiant.
For a little less expensive bright lipstick selections for your summer makeup look, try Revlon Moon Drops lipstick in Hot Coral or Love that Pink at $8.99.
Follow these steps for the summer makeup trend of bright lipstick and you will be a blinging babe!

I am partial to the bright red lip as it pays tribute to old Hollywood glamour. I think Rosario got it right here in this shade by YSL. In fact it all works…the hair, the forest green, the red lip…fabulous!
