Skin Care Review: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

I am a real fan of cleansing oils and cleansing balms. I love that they are gentle yet sufficient in removing make up specially around the eyes without leaving my skin dry and feeling stripped. I have used DHC Deep Cleansing Oil in the past, as I used to work for the company. But it’s been many years and I was offered the opportunity to review the oil. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint.

About DHC Deep Cleansing Oil $28:

What it is: An olive oil–based facial cleanser that dissolves makeup thoroughly with zero residue. Its nutritive formula effortlessly breaks down stubborn, waterproof mascara and eyeliner and emulsifies into a cleansing milk when you rinse. Great for removing excess oil and sunscreen, it’s a daily must-have even if you don’t wear makeup. Your skin will feel soothed, refreshed, and balanced. One try is all you need to see why millions of women swear by it.

Skin types it’s ideal for:

  • Normal
  • Combination

Formulated without:

  • Added fragrance
  • Colorants
  • Parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Mineral oil

My results:

I should probably let you know that my skin is normal to dry now that I have gone through menopause. So, while I used to have oily skin and truly loved an invigorating cleanser, now I enjoy one that is hydrating and/or moisturizing. That’s what I have found with the CHC cleansing oil. First, let’s talk about the packaging. This cleansing oil comes in a pump bottle of 12 ounces which is enough to last you around 60 days.

I use two pumps of the cleansing oil, and that is plenty for my face and neck. I massage it in first then I emulsify with water. There isn’t a lot of foaming or lathering which is a good thing. If I saw too much lather coming I would know it wasn’t great for my skin and probably included some ingredients that I try to avoid. After massaging it in I do a rinse with warm water. If I have been wearing heavy make up for the day, I will cleanse one more time. This cleanser removes eye makeup without a hitch and doesn’t irritate my eyes.

After using DHC Deep Cleansing Oil my skin feels clean yet not stripped or dry. As a matter of fact, I feel like the lipid barrier on my skin stays intact when I use this cleansing oil. I tested it by not applying moisturizer immediately after to see how my skin would feel in the next hours. I’m pleased to say that my skin felt normal, Clean and soft.
