Remembering Whitney Houston

Whitney Houston first stepped on the scene as a model, being the  first woman of color to be featured on the cover of Seventeen magazine, amazing the world with her striking looks and humble demeanor.

But it was her one-of-a-kind voice that captured the heart of Americans and the global community. Since 1977 she has inspired every current songstress of today. Whitney Houston’s biggest hit I Will Always Love You, penned by Dolly Parton has become the anthem that every aspiring female singer must tackle. I Will Always Love You is the best-selling single by a female artist, and the biggest-selling non-charity single of all time, with world sales of nearly nine million copies.

Even though she had gospel roots, commercially, Whitney morphed into a full-blown diva from the iconic pop princess that we saw sporting bubble gum colors in video. Eventually that diva style—gowns, glitz and glamour—made Whitney a stylish red carpet staple.

Let’s take a look at Whitney’s incredible style over the years:

As I finish up this piece I find that my heart is heavy with grief. No, I didn’t know Whitney personally nor did I ever see her in concert, but like most I grew up listening to her. I’m trying my best not to watch anything that has to do with her for fear of just having uncontrollable tears.

Although Whitney battled drug use in her life, her accomplishments and spirit triumph any negativity. The world is truly missing an angel. May you rest in peace and watch over all of us, We Love You Whitney <3
