Product Review: Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation #8
When I do wear foundation, I want it to have great coverage and give my skin a flawless finish without looking like I’m wearing makeup. And, since I’m in my 50s, I prefer a creamy, dewy coverage — not a matte powdered face. So, when Smashbox introduced their Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation I was intrigued. How could a powder foundation be creamy??? Well, it works. Check out my review below. Here are the details for Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation #8 $42: What it is: An eight-hour wear, powder foundation formulated with Light Filter technology and long-lasting photoset polymers that acts as a photo filter for your face. What it does: Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation provides two filter effects in one portable compact. It features a double-sided sponge, and it lets you create a buildable and customizable, sheer or full finish. The Light Filter Technology acts as a photo filter to leave skin looking flawless: transparent particles diffuse light in various directions, blurring imperfections while still keeping the subject in focus. Non-drying, non-caking, and non-settling, the particles in this oil-free foundation are translucent so that the pigment’s true color always comes through. Suggested Usage: Use the specially designed double-sided sponge to customize your coverage. Use the velvety side for a natural, sheer-to-medium finish, or the smooth side for full coverage. My results: I had full confidence in Smashbox’s ability to deliver on the claims of this powder foundation based on the other foundation I have fallen in love with from the brand. Before using this powder foundation, I prepped with moisturizer and primer as I wanted no chance of looking powdery. As opposed to using the sponge that came with the foundation, I used a big foundation brush to buff the powder into my skin. With one application, my skin looked pretty darn good, but I wanted a full-on face of makeup, so I was going for a complete coverage look. After applying a second layer of foundation, I totally looked like I had flawless skin and it didn’t at all appear powdery. As a matter of fact, after a few minutes, it took on a velvety finish which I love. Smashbox Photo Filter Creamy Powder Foundation wears for hours on end, you don’t have to worry about your day outlasting your foundation. I didn’t have to retouch during the day or night (I wore this foundation for over 12 hours straight). My second time wearing it, I used the sponge, and it definitely will give you a full coverage finish. So, if you are looking to “hide” some pesky spots, you can depend on this powder foundation.
