I’m not one of those women that wears eyeshadow everyday, but I do have a huge stash of shadows. (Clearly I need to join a 12 step program for makeup junkies. ) That, plus the fact that I am still a working makeup artist makes it necessary for me to keep updating my stash.
Of late however, I have become quite the frugal shopper when it comes to beauty products. I have lost a bit of that snobbery when it comes to being a lover of prestige only products. As a matter of fact, I find myself promoting budget beauty buys quite often. (Don’t get it twisted, I still love my fab luxe goodies!)
I happen to be a huge fan of eyeshadow palettes—I encourage my clients to invest in palettes as opposed to individual shadows as they save on both space and money. Plus they are much more convenient—all your eyeshadows in one spot.
I was sent the Nyx Runway Collection—Jazz Night to review and I’m loving it. I had not used this brand for more than a quickie eyebrow pencil when I was in a pickle, but I have to say that I am truly impressed with the quality of the shadows.
Why I love it:
The price —1o eyeshadows for about one dollar each, that’s a deal.
The pigment — these eyeshadows have amazing payoff when it comes to pigment. That makes them ideal for women of color and anyone else who wants true color when they apply their shadow.
Color selection— all too often there will be 2 or 3 colors out of 10 that are truly usable in palettes. The other colors are “leftovers”. That’s not the case with this Nyx palette.
This palette contains the basics—matte black, brown and a wearable blue. And there is a gorgeous khaki, purple and silver. Plus highlight colors that are not so high on sheen that they look clownish.
