My go-to hair style lately has been the wash n’ go. Why? It’s quick, simple, and it lasts. With a hectic schedule of dancing two to four times a week, my styles just don’t last without gel. For these reasons, I haven’t worn a twistout in months! While they give me the volume I absolutely love, they don’t stand up as well through the week, forcing me to wash my hair more frequently (and let’s face it, no one has time for more than one wash-day)! Recently, however, I received a product from the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage line and I was itching to try it right away!
Here are the details on the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale Anti-Shrinkage Easy Twist Gel N’ Butter $9.99:
What it is:
Make only 1 stop to first-class twist-outs with our Easy twist Gel N’ Butter! Our “no need to cocktail” swirled recipe of holding gel and moisturizing butter eliminates worry of curdling and flakes.
How to use:
Add in soft-hold and high shine and surely, you’ll make this your final destination for easy, flawless, twist-outs. After cleansing and detangling, apply Easy Twist Gel N’ Butter to damp hair. Use your fingers to evenly distribute on each section before beginning to twist. Do not rinse. Let air dry or sit under a warm hooded dryer. No Mineral Oil, No Petrolatum.
Why I love it:
I cannot say enough good things about this product. The butter makes it moisturizing and left my hair feeling soft. The gel gave a medium hold that kept my curls in place and my twist out defined without that crunchy gel-cast. It really is a great harmony of everything I need in a styling product. The smell is also a bonus! It’s made with mango oil and bamboo milk, but to me it smells very citrus-like. The packaging is also sleek and, most importantly, has an easy-pump nozzle which means virtually no mess!
As part of the Dark and Lovely Anti-Shrinkage line, this gel n’ butter claims to be the “recipe for curl elongation.” I wouldn’t say that I noticed more length or less shrinkage in my style, but I definitely had the volume I was looking for. Also, like all of my twistouts of the past, this one unfortunately did not stand up to the test of a dance class–by the end, the heat and sweat had taken their toll and reduced my lovely style into a puff of frizz. I find, however, that this has nothing to do with the performance of this product and more to do with the endurance of the twistout itself as a style. I still give this product two thumbs up!
