Product Review-Hair: Cantu Shea Butter Define & Shine Custard & Hair Moisturizing Curl Cream Activator

Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

I have to admit, I have been on a Cantu binge! The Cantu Shea Butter brand is admittedly one of my favorite hair product lines. They have yet to disappoint me. They always deliver what they promise and for the price, I am beyond happy to try their products. When I received Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Define & Shine Custard and Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Cream Activator to try, I was thrilled to try these new products and even more happy when these products left my hair curly, soft and moisturized.

Here are the details about Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Define & Shine Custard :

  • Infuses curls with moisture for superb definition
  • Provides brilliant shine with just enough hold

My Experience:

Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Define & Shine Custard and Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Cream Activator worked wonderfully together.

At first I was a little bit skeptical because Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Define & Shine Custard is a gel-like substance. It is sticky and on the watery side. However, it smells great and easy to apply. My hair type – 3b to 4c, kinky/curly/coily and fine strands – is finicky when it comes to gel-like substances. It either loves the gel or hates it! I was expecting thin fine defined and volume-less curls – I was wrong.

My hair was damp when I applied Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Define & Shine Custard throughout my hair. It was easy to rake through. I used it in conjunction with Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Cream Activator (as it is recommended).

My Experience:

Cantu Shea Butter for Natural Hair Moisturizing Curl Cream Activator is a white cream-like lotion … gel and cream; I expected white flakes or a white film to be left behind but my hair air dried and there was no residue left behind – win!

A little bit of product goes a long way – I did not over saturate my hair with either products. I have fine hair, so too much product will weigh my hair down. I was a bit worried about crunchy hair; as I do not like crunchy hair and gels often leave crunch. I must say that my hair did dry a little bit on the crunchy side; but after scrunching and fluffing my hair, crunch was no longer an issue. My hair was not weighed down, I had minimum frizz and great hold for my curls and kinks. My hair was left moisturized, soft and shiny without being greasy at all.

As the days went on, my hair got fluffier and was still very much defined. Plus, it was still very soft. I must say that am a happy camper.

    Hello great review-
I see that you have this product listed as non-vegan —-which I also thought because of the silk amino acids (which must be synthetic??)….but just contacted Cantu –they claim that their products have no animal derivatives.
Which would make all their products vegan! Yay!
(Why wouldn’t they just list it as vegan?? )

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
