Makeup Review: Bésame Lipstick in Dusty Rose

I love lipstick — all colors and all formulas. I recently received a Bésame Lipstick to review for the blog, and I’m loving it. I think you have to know about this company first.

About Bésame:

Bésame Cosmetics was founded in 2004 out of a fascination with art, history, and beauty; a vintage makeup brand which honors the style, spirit, and sensibility of female beauty.

Through a keen eye for color and historical expertise, we recreate modern reproductions of classic luxury makeup from the 1920s, ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s, designed to make women feel elegant, inspired, and empowered by their beauty. Pairing innovative, cutting edge technology with a historical milieu, our colors and formulations are painstakingly hand-crafted to a minutia of detail, from our custom-designed gold compacts to our signature chrysanthemum motifs. Based in Southern California, Bésame understands Hollywood’s ongoing fascination with the vintage aesthetic, and often helps production designers recreate accurate makeup displays for period film and television (catch a glimpse of our Crimson Rouge tin in the 2012’s Academy Award-winning film, “The Artist”).

About Bésame Lipstick in Dusty Rose $22:

besame-dusty-roseWhat it is:
A lipstick with a satin, matte finish that delivers full coverage in one coat.

What it does:
Bésame Cosmetics’ Classic Color Lipsticks feature retro-inspired, smooth lip colors that provide a budge-proof finish that stays put, while the angled design offers precise application. Each lasting color is inspired by the shades worn by coveted Hollywood starlets of the ‘20s, ‘30s, ‘40s, and ‘50s, imparting an iconic, satin meets matte lip look. The formula is packed with macadamia oil, vitamin C, chamomile, and aloe to leave lips feeling soft and hydrated.

What else you need to know:
The years listed on the lipstick names indicate the year that color was initially produced. Each color is an exact duplicate of shades made from Bésame Cosmetics’ vast collection of original tubes from each year.

Beauty Tip:
Use the angled tip to line the lips first. Fill in lips with the flat edge.

My results:

First off let me say how beautiful the packaging is on the Bésame Lipstick. It truly has a vintage feel and look, and even more, it has a luxe feel to it. I don’t often wear soft colors in lipstick, like this Dusty Rose, so I was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful it was on me. Bésame Lipstick in Dusty Rose looks almost like a pink nude on me, and it’s very pretty. Because it’s somewhat of a neutral pink, I find that I can wear it with most of my makeup with any clashing.

I love the creamy texture of Bésame Lipsticks — they don’t dry my lips and are long-wearing as this is a semi-matte formula. This color is suggested for light-to-medium skin tones, but as you can see, it worked out well for me.

I am a red lipstick lover, and look forward to trying one of their classic reds.
