How-to: 4 Frizz-Free Hairstyles for Labor Day

As Labor Day fast approaches, it’s not only time to think about how you’ll be spending your last days of summer, but also what you’ll be wearing and how to do your hair. Below are a few easy style recommendations from Harry Josh, John Frieda International Creative Consultant.

TOP KNOT

A top knot is not only a great style for the summer, but it will also help you to stay cool.  Start by applying John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume Thickening Mousse to damp hair and blow dry. Once dry, gather all of your hair high on top of your head; then wrap your hair around itself completely into a bun and tuck the ends underneath the bun. Use hair pins to secure your hair so that they disappear under the bun locking underneath creating a little fortress so that it doesn’t move around. If you have thick hair, the pins may not hold as well, so you can use an elastic. The elastic can then be disguised by wrapping the hair around it. Finish by spraying your hair with John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier Firm‑Hold Hair Spray.

FISHTAIL BRAID

A fantastic look for the beach, begin by bringing your hair together against your actual side part to create dramatic lift. If your hair parts in the center you can go to either side and if you have a side part, bring your hair to the opposite side. Grab and secure your hair and start to do a basic braid down one side and secure with an elastic band. Then ruffle and pull it apart with your fingers, letting a few pieces fall out, including long bangs, so that it looks casual and undone.

BEACH WAVES

Messy beach waves are the ultimate style for summer hair.  Begin by applying John Frieda’s Frizz-Ease Thermal Protection Serum to wet hair. Not only will this help fight frizz, but it will protect your hair from UV rays. The next thing you need to get this look is mousse – it’s light, weightless, and gives you hold. Apply it to towel-dried hair—this will help create texture while you’re blow drying. Once dry, curl hair in sections using a curling iron, but make sure to hold the iron vertically and wrap hair around it (like a tinsel). Finish by brushing hair out and spritzing with a lightweight hairspray,

STRAIGHT & SLEEK

If you just can’t part from your favorite straight look, try Frizz-Ease 3-Day Straight. You’ll have flawlessly straight strands that will last for up to 3 days or until your next shampoo. Apply to damp hair and blow dry your hair straight. The weightless spray provides heat protection as it blocks out frizz and enhances straightening results. Then finish by flat ironing hair in sections to preserve the style.
