I attend Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in New York on the regular—February and September—and my beauty “needs” change with the season. September is seasonally muggy, warm and just doesn’t agree with me on any level. Between my hot flashes and frizzy hair, I need an arsenal of beauty products that work from dawn to well, dawn. I “pared down” the 14 items that really made a difference in not only my appearance, but my overall well-being as well.
This list is of course sans Motrin and martinis…
1. Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra 24H $45.50
My skin had to look flawless for hours on end, LancômeTeint Idole Ultra 24H does the trick. With a velvety long-lasting finish, this foundation has become my go-to foundation for a beautiful professional look.
A perfecting foundation with 24-hour staying power.
I of course had to have the requisite fashionista red lip — and my red of choice for the week was Buxom® Full-On™ Lip Stick in Barcelona. Perfect red. Lasts for hours without drying my lips.
A tingling, three-in-one lip perfector that works overtime.
After a day of shows, a night of parties that took me to the next day, a mask that undid my damage was in order.
Powerful yet gentle blend of precious Peppermint Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Menthol, Olive, Cranberry, Grape and Linseed Oil, Glycerin and Aloe Juice revitalizes, refreshes and plumps the look of dull and tired skin for a radiant, energized look and feel. The mask comes in a practical single-serve cup which protects the mask from oxidation, is easy-to-use, convenient, and perfect for on-the-go.
I don’t leave home without L’Occitane Eye Care & Mask Duo Brightening Correction. The genius eye product doubles as a brightening mask while depuffing my perpetually puffy morning eyes.
This triple-action* formula works both as a daily eye cream and an eye-contour mask for visible results**. First, the eye area appears smoothed: skin looks firmer and the appearance of wrinkles is visibly reduced. Second, an even and luminous eye area emerges: the eye contour seems brightened especially with Bellis perennis extract. Third, a fresh and rested look is achieved: puffiness and dark circles due to age, stress and fatigue appear minimized through the action of caffeine.
My tired eyes were perked up with a touch of blue mascara tipped on the ends of my lashes with Milani Bella Blue Mascara. A great way to fake a good nights sleep.
This gorgeous, buildable colored mascara is fashion forward. Wear it with the other tone-on-tone players in the Bella Blue lineup, or as an unexpected pop of color against a backdrop of neutral cheeks and eyes.
My makeup was simple everyday — winged-out eyeliner made simple with my “sharpie” liner courtesy of Tarte.
A long-lasting and quick-drying, precision liquid eyeliner that lets you effortlessly create sleek lines or bold, dramatic looks.
The more the merrier when it comes to deflecting the damage I did the previous night, or my lack of sleep. I discovered bareMinerals Well-Rested at Fashion Week a couple years ago and it’s still a mainstay in my makeup arsenal.
his sheer mineral formula immediately infuses radiance and highlights and illuminates dull skin. Light-reflecting minerals even skintone while improving skin radiance and visibly minimizing dark spots, wrinkles, lines, and discolorations over time.

For some reason my skin decides to act up when I travel (could be my ridiculous diet–I have to indulge when in NYC). This spot treatment helps unwanted visitors get out of town in a flash.

Formulating with Tamanu Oil to help promote healthy skin, resulting in clear, smooth skin, naturally. Salicylic Acid penetrates pores to reduce acne and prevent future breakouts.

A makeup touchup mid-day was simply a swipe of lipstick and a “blot” with Boscia’s amazing blotting linens. My skin was refreshed, matte and looked like I just applied my makeup.
These portable, soothing blotting sheets are made from 100 percent natural Abaca Tree fiber to absorb excess oil and reduce shine without disturbing makeup.
